Who is DAMA?

• Data Management Association (DAMA) International is a non-profit, vendor-independent, global association of technical and business people dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of information and data management.

• DAMA's first chapter was founded in 1980 in Los Angeles. Among other work they host annual conferences, the most current being Enterprise Data World.

DAMA Ireland• A local chapter of DAMA International that

allows us to network to discuss non-technical questions of data and information resource management.

 • We will provide a regular forum for local

discussion among users who want to manage data as a corporate resource, regardless of hardware or software environment.

Benefits of DAMA International Affiliation

• Recognition by DAMA International – the right to use the DAMA International name and logo, – our website links will be available through the DAMA International website. – DAMA I will provide Support for chapter development, maintenance.

• Two way conversation – we will help set direction for DAMA International, chapter officers are encouraged to serve as officers of DAMA International.

• We can nominate and vote for recipients of the DAMA International Achievement Awards.

• Our website links will be available through the DAMA International website.

• Can receive discounts by selected vendors and publishers, and publications.

• Will receive announcements and discounts for DAMA International events.

• Access to the DAMA Speakers Bureau

• Access to the DMBOK – the DAMA Body of Knowledge

• Future meetings will be member only

• Membership fee still under discussion, but ‘regular membership’ will be in the region of eighty euro a year – approximately half of which will go to DAMA International.

• There will be discounted membership for students.
