RADIO PROCEDURE FOR DISPATCH

In the event that pursuit is necessary, the Officer shall immediately notify Communications and provide pertinent information as to the nature of the pursuit, i.e.: 

Location/Direction  Suspect plate information  Suspect vehicle description  Reason for pursuit including offense information

Communications personnel shall broadcast to all units on the primary talk group the location and direction of the pursuit and request the channel be kept clear for pursuit related traffic only.

Communications personnel shall immediately notify a Patrol Supervisor who shall be apprised of all known facts regarding the pursuit.

For a pursuit that will involve other jurisdictions, you will have to patch TR_POL1 to a County Wide Talk Group.

On your Resource List, click the down arrow to make the CW_POL tg’s visible

If tg is busy, box will show yellow.

Double click box on Resource List to bring up temp module on Home screen.

Click Patch, Program Click on #7 or 8 for Patch/Simul

This window will appear. Click TR_POL1 then, CW_POL1 and finally the Patch Now

Now, radio traffic over TR_POL1 will now also transmit over CW_POL1. This will be both car to car and dispatch to car.

Make an announcement on ALLDISP talk group of pursuit’s location, direction of travel, vehicle description including plate, what the occupant(s) are wanted for and what talk group you require assisting jurisdictions’ units to switch to.

AllDISP module is located on top row of Home tab.

Example:◦ All PSAPs from Troy PD on ALLDISP special

attention Bloomfield Twp and Auburn Hills. (pause) All PSAPs from Troy PD, we are in pursuit of a vehicle NB on I75 approaching Crooks. Occupants wanted for Armed Robbery. Vehicle is a tan Ford Aerostar , license plate-123ABC. Occupied by 3 white males all believed to be armed. We are patching our primary to County Wide Police 1. Assisting agencies have your cars switch to CW_POL1.

You should receive confirmation from neighboring jurisdictions on your announcement.◦ Example: Troy PD from Auburn Hills PD on

ALLDISP. We copy your message and are sending 2 cars. We will be switching to CW_POL1.

You will continue to repeat pursuing officer(s) location and shadow any other important information the he/she gives you. With the patch in place, these transmission will be broadcast over TR_POL1 and CW_POL1.

The Shift Commander will be monitoring pursuit. He/she will determine if/when it’s terminated.

If pursuit ends by capture or termination, you will announce this 1st over TR_POL1 and then over ALLDISP.◦ Example: All units from Troy Dispatch, pursuit of tan

aerostar van is over. 3 subjects in custody. (Repeat).-Or-

◦ All units from Troy Dispatch, per 251 all Troy cars to terminate pursuit of tan aerostar van. (Repeat)

Click Patch, Enable and then #7. Check mark will disappear and patch will be broken.
