Evaluation Task 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Page 2: Media evaluation task 3

QuestionnaireWhen showcasing my film trailer I created a questionnaire of seven questions to get feedback and constructive criticism on my film and to also see the opinions on my film from my target audience. I gave the questionnaire to 15 people in my target audience. I have now looked at the responses to this questionnaire and tallied the answers into pie charts to see the overall view of the trailer much easier.

Question 1How much did you enjoy the film trailer on a scale of 1 – 10

(10 being the highest)

1

2

3

4

5

9

10

For this question I wanted to start of with an overall rating of the trailer. Two people gave the trailer a 5, three people ranked it a six, two people gave it a seven, scoring the most seven people ranked the trailer enjoyment as an eight and one person ranked it a nine. The rankings vary between a five and a nine, this shows that the viewing was a success and was liked overall by my target audience.

Question 2 Was the genre of the film clear throughout the trailer ?

Yes

No

I then asked if the genre was clear through the viewing of my film trailer, in response to this ten people answered yes that the genre was clear and five people answered no that it was not. With social realism being a somewhat unclear genre or not known in many cases I see this as the majority understanding the genre through the viewing of my trailer.

Question 3Could you understand the storyline of the film from this

trailer?

Not at all

A little

Kind of

Yes

In my third question I wanted to find out how well the audience understood the storyline of the film through only seeing the trailer, through flashbacks and changes in time throughout my trailer, making the storyline clear was of a big importance to me. On this the majority voted that they kind of understood the story but not completely. 2 voted a little understanding seven voted that they kind of understood the storyline and six voted that they did understand the story through watching my film trailer.

Question 4 Did the trailer give away too much of the storyline?

Yes

No

I then wanted to find out if too much of the story was given away during the film trailer, this I was worried about as of the horse riding accident is told prior to the viewing of the actual film. In response fourteen of my viewing audience said no, that too much of the story was not given away, yet one person voted yes that too much was given away from the viewing of the trailer.

Question 5 Would you then watch this film after viewing this trailer?

Yes

No

Maybe

In response of members of my target audience viewing my film I wanted to know if they would watch this film after the viewing of the trailer. Fourteen people voted yes, five people voted no and two people voted maybe. When looking at these responses, reasons people gave for not wanting to watch this film were reasons such as it not being the genre of film they normally watch.

Question 6 Please rank what immersed you in to the trailer the most

Editing no1

Sound no1

Camerawork no1

Script no1

Characters no1

Setting/ lighting no1

I then lastly asked a question where the audience would have to rank each part of my trailer such as sound and editing. I then looked at how many times each category was ranked 1st. Editing was ranked 1st

three times, sound four times, camerawork six time and characters ranked twice, with script and setting/ lighting being ranked but never as 1st.

From this feedback from my questionnaires I have learnt that my film is quite alternative and may not be for everyone, I have learnt that my trailer may have been slightly confusing for the audience as to what it is about but not so much that they have no comprehension of what its about, nor giving away too much of the story. I wanted the trailer to be slightly intriguing by the confusion of what has happened to the character and I am glad that in my feedback I have leaned that this has worked the correct amount without confusing the audience.
