Location ideas Although these are only shots from the reality TV show ‘Made In Chelsea’ oppose to a music video, they highlight a perfect location shot example that we could recreate. As a group we feel a scene that shows our protagonist character standing over looking the bridge, possibly standing with his girl on his arms captures the feeling of love they hold over each other. Also, if we were to have our As a result, we have researched locations that we could use, one example is London, to represent the scene shown in Made In Chelsea. London I feel London is a perfect locational shot for the band as it is extremely assessable for us and will not cost anything. Furthermore there is no need for us to grant permission as it is a public area. Using the iconic city of London, we will be able to evoke the feeling of love we want to achieve as we have a suitable backdrop. Due the band growing up in London, having their first music video being based in their home town will allow the audience to engage with the band. This is important as we want our music video to evoke a sense of realism, and with the audience being able to relate and vision the band in their home town, I feel we are portraying realism in the strongest way possible. Also relating back again to the images shown in the TV series ‘The Only Way Is Essex’, when the character is shown leaning over the wall over looking the river thames, this is similar to the idea we have in our minds about how we want our music video to look. We want to show our protagonist looking towards the river into the distance showing the audience he is in deep thought about something. Relating to the lyric in our video; In the music video for; ‘jamie T – Shelia’ we see the protagonist character walking along the river path. This creates an effective backdrop for his music video as we see the river in the background which is considered a romantic location. This is something we could incorporate into our music video as we are going to have our protagonist character walking on his own, and then shots of him standing with a girl.

The building is called ‘Mercieca’ and this is is a view from google maps of the top of and the side of the building:

Further location ideas was derived from research into different bands;

Firstly, ‘The Stripes’ they are a young Irish band and are of similar ages to that of the members in Crystal Whites. The images on the left show the band preforming on the top of a rooftop throughout their music video for ‘Hometown girls’ this music video is mainly performance based. Which is majority what we are going to base our music video on, however we will still have a narrative present that the audience can clearly see.

Secondly, ‘Finger Eleven’ who are a Canadian rock band follow the roof top trend. The image on the left is from the music video ‘Paralyzer’ which shows the band performing on top of a building in Los Angeles. This is the music video that would be similar to ours, as it holds some narrative as well as focusing most of the video on the band themselves and the performance.

Through finding these music videos, the idea of having our band play on top of a roof appealed to us a great deal. Its effective and not a lot of music videos feature a roof top.

As we are set on knowing we want a roof top to be one of our themes, we started to think about different locations we could use. A dad of one of our group members works in an office which has an easily assessable rooftop which is often used by members of staff. We are hopefully going to gain permission to use this building:
