3 ways to show examples of your work in a job application
It’s one thing to list your skills when applying for a new role, but it’s another to show them in action. Here are a few tips help you show off (the right way) in a job application.
Add linksIf you’ve got examples of work that can be displayed visually such as graphic design work, project plans, some great data presentations and so on, add website links to your resume. The recruiter can click on them and see your work in action.
Include a USBHave you got a portfolio you want to submit with your resume? Go that extra mile and send the recruiter a USB that has your resume and portfolio on it. You could include things like presentations you’ve given, photos of events you helped run, and so forth.
Print outsIf you get through to the interview stage, consider taking print-outs that demonstrate the work you’ve done. You can use these print outs as visual aids when explaining your skills and experience you have and how you can adapt those to the role you’re applying for.
Going that extra step when applying for a job doesn’t take much effort, but it leaves a lasting impression with the recruiter and could increase your chance of getting hired.
