WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT
ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES
FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS
PRODUCT?Evaluation Question Six
When first starting my magazine
research I had to set up a blog fro
my coursework. I used ‘Blogger’ in
which all pieces have been placed.
Blogger has been useful as it
allowed the embedding of various
other sites and enables easy
alterations to be made any time for
example via phone.
SlideShare has been increasingly
useful when uploading PowerPoint's.
As the site creates an interactive
approach to the presentation of the
PowerPoint. It had been used
efficiently when embedding the
HTML onto my blog and can be
viewed effectively by the reader/
audience.
Prezi is creative presentation
software and has been used various
times on my blog. It creates a more
creative approach in which
coursework can be viewed
effectively. For example , it has been
used for an evaluation question
rather than writing it up as a long
essay on a blog site.
Microsoft Excel had been used to
create graphs, for my research and
planning, questionnaire. This was
used to present the results more
effectively rather than the use of text
and percentages, whilst this created
a pie chart in which can clearly
differentiate the results from the
questionnaire.
Scribd had been used when word
document needed to be uploaded.
This had been rather than constantly
writing on my blog posts; Scribd also
allowed alterations on the layout of
texts, in which could be presented to
the audeience.
PowToon had been used for my
evaluation question; it differentiates
from other sites I have used as this
creates a more exciting way to
present information to an audience
, in which music could be included
(which was in reference to the
magazine genre)
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP
Photoshop is an image manipulation program that allows me to
edit the photo's I'd taken, it was extremely useful in the
development of my media product and made possible images
which simply couldn't have happened previously. While this may
not immediately seem beneficial for my magazine, I can tell you
that it taught me many skills such as using the various tools on
Photoshop and without this my magazine would not looks as
good as it does now. Below is the link to the website containing
the tutorial I followed and you will see how various tools are
incorporated into it.
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP EXAMPLES
The outline can be easily
recognised on the firsts draft of
the magazine in comparison to
the final magazine spread (on
the right), many alterations of
colour scheme and cropping
had to be done.
When in the process of my double page spread, I had
to erase the background of an image completely. I did
that through draw plus as school. I had been able to
use draw plus as I’ve had to use it in previous
subjects, but I didn’t know how to cut away at a
background. I learnt very quickly and found it a very
easy process and it was successful.
I used a memory stick to transfer
work from school on to my memory
stick so I could work from home. I
had Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
on my laptop so I found it very easy
to do alterations at home as it was
just the same as doing it at school. I
had a webcam I could record for one
of my questions and I could also
access You tube from my laptop. I
used my camera to take pictures for
my magazine for the double page
spread. The image on my front cover
and various images included within
my magazine, I was provided with a
camera from the school department
in which took high quality images
within a studio room, that guaranteed
good lighting and props if necessary.
CONCLUSION
Overall technology has helped me with my task of
creating a front cover, contents page and double-
page spread in numerous ways and without it; the
end product I created would be considerably less
professional and of a lesser quality. It would have
also resulted in me being less organised and
showing less cohesive and clear
research, planning, skills and evidencing.
