Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to
spread the word about your products and
services but many businesses hesitate to join an
affiliate program because they don’t have time
to do extra advertising for your products.
A second underutilized method of digital
marketing is Instagram. For those businesses
that have learned the trick to making Instagram a positive for their ROI, they don’t mind that the
field is less crowded than that on Facebook, for example.
Here are some tips to using Instagram as part of your advertising and establishing an Affiliate
pay per call strategy that will get you through the clutter and in front of a new audience right
away.
The Ignored Audience
Most people have heard of Instagram and about half have visited the sight once. But, many
businesses have totally ignored it as a vehicle to sell their products because they don’t believe
that it has a large audience.
As of June 2014, Instagram has 200 million monthly active users!
In the first 6 months of 2014, Instagram signed up 50-million new subscribers!

The Process:
• Set up a separate Instagram account for yourself and each of your affiliates.
• If your company name is in use, create one that would best describe your business
• Upload a profile photo on the Profile Page
• Notify each affliate to announce their Instagram page selling your products – give them
the link and username – ask them to post it at least twice a week for the next three months
on their social sites and tweet it if they have twitter accounts for their own business.
• Build viewer interest by running contests, uploading pictures of products that are quirky
or used in an interesting way
• Cross post from your affiliates Instagram site that you set up to their Facebook page
immediately after uploading photos
• Share news that you can integrate your products into the discussion
• Check out the Instagram business blog for ideas and connections
• Learn the ins-and-outs of the business communities in your industry and join with them
to share your product images, contests and interesting notes
The most important thing to do immediately after setting up an account is to create that profile
page. The only way to direct traffic back to your program partners’ sites is on the profile page so
while you might ignore it on LinkedIn, make it fun, fact-filled and interesting on Instagram.
Using Instagram is a great way to compete and get your brand and message out when you are the
little fish in the big sea.
