Luke Smith Evaluation 1) In my proposal I put that my stop motion video will be 2-3 minutes long but I only did 30 seconds because it was harder to create than I thought it would be, as I had to take more photos than what I thought I had to take. I took about 2 thousand photos just to do 30 seconds of animation. In the end I did a stop motion similar to Maker vs Marker instead of the parkour version because I knew it would be easier to do because It only takes one parson to draw and make and for the parkour I will need some other people to help do it and I don’t think the school would have the correct equipment I would need to do it because I would need a very tall tripod to get the pictures I would need. I also put in my proposal that I might use play- doh but I decided not to use it because it would be harder to create using the play-doh and I would rather draw with a pen and a white board to create my stop motion.

1)In my proposal I put that my stop motion video will be 2-3 minutes long but I only did 30 seconds because it was harder to create than I thought it would be, as I had to take more photos than what I thought I had to take. I have made a stop motion similar to this picture on the right but I haven’t gone into loads of detail with the characters apart from my last character at the end called “Timmy”. With the maker vs marker there

Luke Smith

is so much detail on the character and I can’t draw very well unless I look at a picture.

The weaknesses I had with making the stop motion is obviously the drawings because I drew stick men and kept the stop motion very simple until the end when I drew the character called “Timmy”.

This is the original stop motion I saw on YouTube and the stop motion was called “stop motion cartoon- Timmy”. I really like this little stop motion video because it was made with a lot of detail and I think it was made a different way to what I did to make my stop motion video.

This is my drawing of the character “Timmy” in m stop motion animation. My weakness of drawing this was that I had the eyes and nose out of

The target audience for my stop motion video is children, teenagers and adults because it is a video for all ages.

2)For my research I did for my stop motion video I watched Wallace and Gromit behind the scenes on YouTube to see how they created Wallace and Gromit, this is the research I did on Wallace and Gromit.

For the planning of my stop motion video I used inspiration mind map on the genre I would do and what editing software I would use to make the stop motion video, this is my inspiration mind map.

For the

time management for making and editing my stop motion was out of time because I didn’t do some of the different scenes and I thought I would only need one double lesson to record all of the different scenes and it took me about 18 lessons to record which is 16 lessons longer than I intended to use to record my stop motion video. All of my camera angles were birds eye view because of the size of the white board I was using but for my last scene of the character “Timmy” I did a close up because I used a bigger whiteboard and I found that it would probably of been easier to use the bigger white board throughout the recording of it because It was easier to draw and it was a lot quicker to set up the camera, tripod and white boar instead of looking for a white board and pen around school, in the video when I

Luke Smith

was using the smaller white board you can see the sellotape that was keeping the white board to the table and I couldn’t crop all of the sellotape out because I drew so close to the sellotape because I didn’t have much room to do all of the drawings I needed for the stop motion video. This is my shot list table example script:

For the budget part of making my stop motion (all of the equipment I need) went well because it would be free as I used the schools camera and all of the equipment. The equipment I needed to record my stop motion was a canon 1100d, tripod, white board and pen, as the school had all of this equipment all I needed to do was borrow it in the lessons to record it.

For all of my sound effects I put “if I use any music in my video I will need to find the people who own the copyright because I will need their permission to use their music in my video”. All of my sounds I used was what I made using a sound recorder but I had to use two sound effects of YouTube and It was a bomb sound effect and a Scooby doo sound effect.

I am pleased with this part of my stop motion video because it took me a while to draw this picture because I couldn’t get the hands, eyes, mouth and nose In proportion because I find it difficult to draw photos but I copied a video I found on YouTube and done a screen grab and printed it off (this is the video I found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rawz8Dh0eLo ). Feedback that I have had from other people in my class and in my tutor is good because they were astonished by how many photos I took to do this stop motion video.

My strengths of making this video is that I know the basics of editing videos using adobe premiere pro but I think that my editing skills could be improved by getting better shots with the camera so I don’t get part of the whiteboard and sellotape in the shot because I can’t crop it out as I will crop some of my drawing out and I want all of my drawing in my stop motion video because it will only tell half the story I want to show in my video.

Luke Smith

A bad part of my stop motion video is this because I think it looks rubbish and it doesn’t look very good

because it is meant to be a football game on an old styled television.

I am very pleased with my end result on making my stop motion animation film, I was hoping to have made my video longer but it took more photos than what I thought I would need because of the speed the video needs to go. I think my weaknesses of making the video was that my shots weren’t perfect and I got parts of the table in my video and I think I rushed into making it because I thought I would only need 1 double lesson to record it but I took about 15-20 lessons to record it and the scenes I was originally going to do kind of went in the bin because I just did shots what I thought wold look good in the video because I didn’t think I would be able to draw some of the different scenes I had planned to do in my original idea of making my stop motion. I think that my strengths of making my video was my editing skills because of the amount of photos I was using (around 3000 photos), sound effects I used for my stop motion video like sound recording myself write to get a scribble sound and the cropping of my photos because I got parts of the table in and sellotape that was holding my whiteboard down to the table so the white board would move when I’m drawing and taking the shots because you would see that the white board is moving slightly when I put the pictures into the video, my first shot that I did, went wrong because I didn’t hold the whiteboard down to the table with blue tack or sellotape so when I put my pictures on adobe premiere pro you can see the whiteboard is moving.

Luke Smith

If I was going to redo my stop motion animation I would spend more time drawing my pictures and not do stick men, try and get a better shot with the camera so I only got the whiteboard in the shot instead of having sellotape and parts of the table In the shot and I would do a bit of research on sound effects and how to make the sounds sound better because my writing at the start of my video didn’t go well with what is happening on the video.

If I was going to redo my opening scene I would try and get all of my writing in proportion, not to have the writing slope down the whiteboard and I would use my finger to show the writing instead of me holding a pen and writing. I think that my best theme of my stop motion video was my last scene with the character “Timmy”.
