Mise-en-scene

• Costume= casual, everyday clothing. The protagonist was wearing blue top and brown cardigan. Blue means dependable or trustworthy and brown means stability which reflects on the protagonist because she is reliable, easy-going and a person that you can trust on.

• Make-up= no make up that has been used to show that girls can be pretty without make ups on.

• Props= car, cactus• Setting= at the start it was set in Phoenix, Arizona as it was said

while she was narrating. Then move into another location which was in the town of Forks, Washington where her father lives and she moves in there with him.

Actors

• Bella Swan = is a teenage girl who falls for Edward and she will take the risks that could happen bad to her as long as she is with Edward. She is the protagonist. She is clumsy and often portrays herself as having low self-esteem and unable to understand Edward’s love for her.

• Edward = is a vampire, who fall in love with Bella. He is cold to humans but nice, sweet, kind when he’s with Bella or his vampire family. He can also read people’s mind from far away distant.

• Jacob = is a werewolf. He is strong, bad temper but nice, kind and he transforms into werewolf when he gets really angry.

Editing

• Jump cuts on the first scene where the deer got chased by someone which creates conscious effect to the audience.

Lighting• Natural key lighting to show realism. • Low key at the first part of the scene which

creates dramatic and moody feeling to the audience.

Camera• Tilt shot to create a sense of unease in the viewer.• Mid shot – when it focuses on how the deer has not got a clue that

something might happened bad. It focuses on the protagonist and her mother’s expression, like the one that they were hugging. Focuses on how awkward it was for Bella and her dad to talk while they were on the car.

• Close up shot – when Bella came up, it focuses on her facial expression which was sad and depressing face.

• Tracking shot when the deer got chased by someone. The speed was quite fast which creates anticipation.

• Establishing shot – used in different locations so you can see what it’s like. For example, the village of the protagonist, the dessert, the bridge in Washington, etc.

Sound

Non-diagetic = the slow rhythm and eerie music at the start means something bad might happened. Then the music gets deeper and deeper which creates suspense. And then it slows down when the protagonist showed up. After a few minutes they use another music on the background.
