Who we are and how we work

Founded in 1980, Grimshaw operates as a global network ofcitystudios with a portfolio spanning architecture, planning and industrial design acorss all major sectors.

Our work responds tothe needs and resources of thecontemporaryworld. The buildings we produce come fromadetailed understanding of the functions theymustfulfil, the conditions they have to provide and thematerials from which they are constructed.

AThis section looks at evaluating options for achieving a particular colour and finish.

Upon defining the concept for the stop canopies and other equipment, a materials selection analysis should be undertaken to assess what material best meets the designintent.

This process will help inform the final detailing of the canopies and other architectural components as well as establish a quality benchmark to be taken through toconstruction.

LESSON

All NSW with statu and core

light rail stops mustcomply tory regulations, standards transportpolicy.

Synthesising all these requirements into a fully documented, verified, buildable solution for stops takes considerable time and resources.

Even with a strong initial concept on the CBD and South East Light Rail project (CSELR), the design development process took two years for unforeseen complications, conflicts between requirements and integration to be resolved. This was not only a costly process forthe consultants. The exercise

alsoconsumed significant resources across multiple teams in Transportto ensure the outcome balanced all customer, wayfinding, ticketing, asset management, accessibility, lighting, safety, architecture and urban design requirements.
