Whilst educated people still had an relevant voice, they were stifled by the notion that it is only the ruling classes who had any right to comment and speculate on the important issues that would shape the direction of countries in the near future. The advent of Democracy following the enlightenment introduced the idea for the first time that everybody's voice should be heard and take part in helping decide hat is best fro a country to prosper. Whilst voting has been around for a long time, it was not until the age of the internet where people for the first time truly had a voice beyond the ballot paper. The invention of the internet has truly been one of the most democratizing forces of our time, and the access we have to information ow has also given any a platform to help shape public debate.
