o Logistics is a system which controls raw materials, manufactured goods, finished goods

and information, and a physical movement from supply through the transfer and possession of different kinds of

intermediate links to the final consumers, to achieve the clear target of the organization. China logistics industry,

under the influence of the macro-control policy which the state continues to strengthen and improve, will maintain

rapid operation growth.

In 2005, total social logistics expense of the whole country was 3386 billion yuan, calculating in current

price, increased year-on-year 12.9%, the growth rate fell 3.7 percentage points than that in last year. The growth

rate of logistics revenue in 2005 was rapid, and total national logistics industry revenue was 1879.1 billion yuan,

increased year-on-year 12.7%. Of which, revenue in the transportation field amounted to 1592.4 billion yuan,

increased year-on-year 10.5%, accounting for 84.7% of the total revenue, storage revenue was 286.7 billion yuan,

increased year-on-year 26.7%, accounting for 15.3% of the total revenue.

In 2006, total national social expense was 3841.4 billion yuan, increased year-on-year 13.5% (calculating in

current price), the growth rate rose 0.6 percentage point than that in last year. The ratio between total logistics

expense and GDP was 18.3%, decreased by 0.2 percentage point than that in last year. Transportation expense was

2101.8 billion yuan in 2006, increased year-on-year12.8%, accounting for 54.7% of total social logistics expense,

decresed by 0.3% than that in 2005. Storage expense was 1233.1 billion yuan, increased year-on-year 16%, the

growth amplitude rose by 0.1 percentage point than that in last year, also the part which increased most rapidly of

logistics expense, accounting for 32.1% of total social logistics expense, increased by 0.7 percentage point than

that in last year. In 2006 management expense was 506.6 billion yuan, increased year-on-year 10.4%, the growth

amplitude fell by 2.3 percentage points than that in last year, accounting for 13.2% of total social logistics expense,

decreased by 0.4 percentage point than that in last year. In 2006, added value of national logistics was 1412 billion

yuan, increased year-on-year 12.5% calculating in comparable price, accounting for 17.1% of added value of

national service industry and increased by 0.5 percentage point than that in last year.

In the first quarter of 2007, total national social logistics was 15.6 trillion yuan, increased year-on-year

23.8%. Total industrial products logistics was 13.7 trillion yuan, increased year-on-year 2.8 trillion yuan, increased

25.2%, accounting for 88% of total social logistics, rose year-on-year 0.8 percentage point. Total import logistics

was 1.6 trillion yuan, increased year-on-year 14.1%, and accounting for 10.3% of total social logistics, fell

year-on-year 0.9 percentage point. Total agricultural product logistics, total renewable resource logistics and total

organization and resident goods logistics grew 13.5%, 17.1% and 15.8% respectively.

During the “11th Five Years” and even longer period in the future, China logistics industry will enter the

development stage with higher level, and will present some new development trend and characteristics. Firstly,

with the rapid and stable development of national economy, logistics industry scale will expand continuously and

rapidly. Secondly, the concentration degree of logistics industry will be improved further to adapt to the economic

structure and industrial layout adjustment. Thirdly, with the further expansion of logistics market, division inside

logistics industry will be more and more detailed. Fourthly, ways of logistics service are diversified day by day.

Integrated logistics service, basing on modern information technology, transportation technology and management

technology, will gain wider application. Fifthly, technology progress and innovation step of logistics industry will

be accelerated and modernization level will be improved further. Sixthly, cooperation and interaction will become

the important approach for logistics industry to achieve the scale expansion and harmonious development.

Seventhly, system environment of logistics industry development will be more and more normative, market order
