it!

For most of us, aluminum is just an insignificant small thing that we just use to open our soda and beer but they could do more than that. They can certainly bring happiness to someone in need. Love can surely be made out of pop-tabs.

At least, 100 million children, teens, and adults worldwide need a wheelchair but cannot afford one.

A basic wheelchair costs about Php 5,500. A kilo of aluminum is usually purchased at Php 50. With simple Mathematics, we need 110 kilos of those flimsy pop-tabs, and we can get that wheelchair.

We all know how easy it is to collect these tabs, and are glad to do so knowing that something so small can go a long way towards bringing happiness to someone in need.

Think about this...

Project Wheelchair aims to promote social responsibility and charity by collecting tabs, turning them into cash to purchase a wheelchair and donating it to a hospital or a foundation. It also aims to educate employees about how one wheelchair can deliver independence, hope and, of course, mobility, to those who are in need.

The Objective

The Operations Group will be divided into 4 – BOS, CC, ELS and ICT. The Shared Services Team can also join.  All participating groups are encouraged to collect as many pop/pull tabs as they can. Each vertical will be provided a container where the tabs should be kept for the duration of the project.

More is definitely better! Remember, we are aiming for 110 kilograms!

The Process

Page 8: Poptabs Project

Submit your vertical’s container every three (3) weeks for measurement. Your vertical’s collection will be tallied and can be viewed and monitored in Google Drive. Spread the word and send us your Team’s fun photos while your awesome Team works on this activity.

A good habit is worth promoting and sharing!

The Team with the most number of pull/pop tabs collected will be named as the winner. A Free Food Friday awaits them.

At the end of the drive, the pop/pull tabs will be sold for cash and for recycling. Proceeds will be used to fund the wheelchair. MicroSourcing will donate an additional Php2,500 to fund one wheelchair.
