Gas Turbine Generator End Shield Flanges - The application requires a sealant to be pumped in throughthe channel by a air dispensing equipment. Project Sales Corp introduces a sealant to address this need.
The generator rotor bearings, the hydrogen shaft seals, and oil passages supplying oils to these parts, arecontained and/or supported by the outer end shields. The end shields are split on the horizontal centerlinefacilitating their removal. The joints between the shield halves and the joints between the shields and thestator frame are to fitted and provided with grooves for the insertion of a sealing compound, to seal thehydrogen gas in the generator casing. The application requires a sealant to be pumped in through thechannel by a air dispensing equipment. This product is intended to remain in a putty-like state indefinitely, and will swell slightly when in contact with most fuels, tightening the seal inservice. The product Q4-2805 is a sealant material designed to be injected into channels to form a watertight seal. It is designed to survive harsh environments where most conventional sealants fail. It is highly resistant tocontact with solvents, fuels, oils, and many industrial chemicals. Upon exposure to common fuels, thissealant will swell slightly, tightening the seal during service. Its a non-curing product and can withstandimmersion in fuels and temperatures upto 200 deg C. With excellent flow charactersistics it can be injectedwith 223AR-6 Grover Automatic Reciprocating Fluorosilicone Sealant Gun with Cylinder for 6 - 7oz fromGrover Manufacturing, USA. Q4-2805 is is effective in sealing Electric Power Generator End Shieldchannels on Power Generation stations requiring weather resistance and temperature extremes. It has acontinuous use temperature range of -55 o C to >200 o C and is not affected by UV or other environmentalfactors. Q4-2805 is designed to be injected into a flange and remains in a putty like consistency. Q4-2805 increases the reliability in sealing the generator end shield - a critical equipment for continuousoperation of the power plant. Use of the product improves reliability of equipment. Temperature resistance BIRKOSIT Dichtungskitt ® withstands hot steam and air, hot and cold water, light fuel oils and lubricants, as well as crude oil and natural gas at temperatures of up to 900 °C. 2. Pressure Resistance The adhesion on sealing surfaces and butt joints is so high that a one hundred percent seal is guaranteed even for pressures up to 250 bar. The pressure resistance for flanges without sealing rings is guaranteed up to 450 bar, and even up to 550 bar for screw joints. 3. Service life When used in accordance with instructions and with regular servicing as required for steam and gas turbines, we guarantee a service life of 10 years for use on machined sealing surfaces (butt joints) with a finishing accuracy of Ra = 0.8 μm to 1.2 μm. For high-pressure turbines (H), medium-pressure turbines (M) and low-pressure turbines (L) we guarantee that the product will withstand hot steam and hot air, hot and cold water, light fuel oils and lubricants as well as crude oil and natural gas up to 900°C and withstand pressure up to 250 bar. 4. Storage Life If stored correctly, we guarantee a service life of the product in the tin of 5 years. Opened tins - If the tins are resealed correctly after partial use, we guarantee a service life of the product of 3 years. 5. Spreadability Birkosit can be easily applied on the flange surface with a putty blade (you will get them free with the shipment you receive from Project Sales Corp) and as it contains linseed oil instead of solvents, it spreads easily on the flange surfaces.

QUIKSTEEL will setup under water or in fluids. QUIKSTEEL is impervious to chemicals, solvents, oils,and acids including battery acids. No special tools or training is required to successfully used QUIKSTEEL. After QUIKSTEEL is fullycured (60 minutes), it can be milled, machined, drilled, tapped, shaped, filled, sanded, and painted. Several equipments failures are a result of mechanical assembly failures. Failures can happen through O ring and seal failures, alignment problems, loosening, leakages, scuffing, scoring, galling, seizing, fretting and more. Some of these can be easily be avoided by adopting proactive maintenance procedures. Let’s look at a few examples of components assembled and assemblies that you normally do.
‘O’ ring and oil seals come in contact with media and become brittle and a leak starts. This can be easily avoided with the use of rubber assembly lubricants1 that help lubricate and protect rubber components and form a protective barrier preventing the rubber from becoming brittle.
When you do press-fits, we recommend using a press-fit assembly paste2. This avoids scuffing and scoring of the shafts or components being press-fitted and prevents fretting corrosion that cause seizure. These pastes also allow easy disassembly after long periods of time.
There is more to following fasteners cross tightening sequence in assemblies. If a thread paste is not used, varying torque tension can occur in assembly and cause flange failures. In high temperatures, fasteners can seize if a proper anti-seize paste3 is not applied.
Pipe Threads can leak due to thread failures or gaps that can exist after tightening. Pipe Thread Sealants4 help in sealing metal and plastic pipes against steam, water, gas, etc and avoid leakage. Non-hardening products are always better.
Metal-to-Metal joints can have leakages due to asperities on the surfaces. These asperities can be filled up using appropriate sealants5 that can handle the required temperature, pressure, media and gap fill characteristics of the joint.
Contamination induced during an assembly can cause premature failure of several components including bearings. Preventing contamination at the time of assembly is easily avoided with the use of appropriate cleaners and degreasers6 and wipes.

Molykote Longterm 00 is an exceptionally adhesive semi-
fluid grease in NLGI 00 consistency for application on wire ropes and heavily loaded open gears.
The Product
The product is a penetrating type grease with exceptional adherence, in a ready to use NLGI 00 consistency.
The product is soft and stringy in nature with a very high load bearing capacity and excellent corrosion protection characteristics. It is resistant to water washout as well as sea water.
In addition to its extreme pressure characteristics, the product contains solid lubricants that protects the core and individual strands with a lubricant film even under extreme pressures encountered during bending, stretching and loading on wire ropes.

FAST DRYING: QUIKSTEEL firmly sets in 15 minutes, and is completely cured and ready to drill, sand, tap, prime, machine and paint in one hour (longer in colder conditions).
STRONG: There are two ways strength is measured. One is on the horizontal plan – this is called "shear strength" and the other is on the vertical plane and this is called "tensile strength."
SHEAR STRENGTH – When cured (one-hour drying time) QUIKSTEEL has a shear strength of 740 pounds per square inch. This means that when two pieces of material are bonded together with a one-inch bond of QUIKSTEEL, it would take a pressure greater than 740 pounds to break the bond. For comparison, pine timber has a ‘shear strength’ of 400 pounds per square inch. QUIKSTEEL is almost twice as strong as pine timber.
TENSILE STRENGTH – QUIKSTEEL has a tensile strength of 6,200 pounds per square inch.
HARD: QUIKSTEEL is one of the hardest materials next to steel. Technically it is rated at D-87. "D" is the highest hardness rating in the Shore rating system. QUIKSTEEL can be compared to ABS plastic (material used to manufacturer automobiles) or the fibre epoxy wings on the B2 bomber. When cured, QUIKSTEEL can be machined in any way that steel or aluminium can be machined, drilled, tapped, milled, sanded, sawed, routed, primed, and painted. Anything you can do to metal or wood – you can do to QUIKSTEEL.
SEALS LEAKS UNDER WATER OR IN FLUIDS: QUIKSTEEL cures underwater and in all atmospheric conditions. Leaks can be sealed inside a container, tank, etc. with liquids still in the item to be sealed. Curing time is longer when used under water.
SEALS LEAKS WHILE LEAK IS OCCURING: If a petrol or diesel tank, oil pan, or any container has a rupture, QUIKSTEEL will seal the leak while the drainage is occurring. No need to empty container prior to repair.
IMPERVIOUS TO CHEMICALS: QUIKSTEEL is impervious to most chemicals including battery acids.
STEEL REINFORCED: QUIKSTEEL has the maximum holding power because it is steel reinforced, and manufactured using the highest grades of epoxy.
WITHSTANDS TEMPERATURES OF 260 DEGREES CELSIUS OR MORE: QUIKSTEEL maintains its qualities when exposed to temperatures in excess of 260 degrees Celsius. (+500oF)
