Unit 33 Stop Motion AnimationStatement of intent

Task: Generate finished ideas for a 60 second stop motion animation, with original soundtrack.

(You must consider your potential audience. You should submit: An appropriate treatment/script; a detailed and annotated storyboard with timings; All pre-production test material (visual and sound) and development work).

Candidate name: Jonathan Ward

Theme: E stings

Title of the Animation: Lego Mosh

Story or plot of animation

1. Introduction title with the assignment on it then the stop motion will start with a zoom of the lego drummer’s drumstick playing to the start of the song then it will follow through a series of flashing lights and there will be flames on stage with the crowd having fists in the air.

2. During the animation I will put some credits in dedication to the band and at the end E4 will appear.

3. I will have the end of the song close in a black screen with a circle that gradually gets smaller with the singer in it.

I think the work above is very cool to make and doesn’t seem too difficult to make as all products that are used are available to buy and it has helped me to shape out my idea more. I have decided that I’m going to pick a song as the theme and then cut down the song to one minute

Here are some print screens i have taken from the links above to show what kind of shots I’m going to use.

This

would be a perfect shot for the singer to be in with the microphone singing.

Something similar to this with the guitarist bend backwards as though as he is loving playing.

Target Audience

My animation is going to be aimed at teenagers who enjoy music and having a laugh because although I am going to make a music video possibly, I would like it to have some humour included.Mainly teenagers who have a taste in music that is metal, as metal isn’t really shown on TV it’d be something that would be easily remembered and talked about for awhile after it is shown. Music is a big part of E4 as the now have their own music channel and regular music shows.

Equipment needed

Camera, lego blocks, lighting equipment, couple of DIY bits and pieces and sellotape and a computer.

Techniques that will be used and how they will help convey the visual

message

Eg framing, styles, zooms, depth of field, etc Going to have lots of zooms, different shots and i am going to create a message which indicates that anyone can have a good time listening to music there will be flashes on screen and flames.

Risk and health and safety considerations

Sharp pieces – keep away from eyes and keep to one side out of the wayElectricity – in case of faults, check plug sockets and wires Dropping camera and breaking it, causing footage loss.I will complete a risk assessment.
