Triangles

Quadrilaterals

circles

LINES

lines

Keeps going forever in both ways

Points

A point is a precise location in a space. It is labeled with a letter.

plane

A flat surface that extends without end, in all directions

Line segments

Any lined that can be measured

Rays

Starts and only goes one way

Intersecting lines

Cross at a point

Perpendicular lines

Intersect at right angles

parallel

Lines in a plane that are always the same distance

Skewer lines

Line that aren't in the same plane

ANGLES

Acute

An acute angle is less than 90 degrees

obtuse

An angle that is more than 90 degrees

Right Angle

A 90 degree angle

Vertex/vertices

A vertex is a middle point of a three point angle

Complementary

To angles that make a 90 degree angle

Supplementary

Two angles that add up to the sum of 180

Adjacent

Angles that are side by side and have common vertex and ray.

TRIANGLES

Right triangle

A triangle with one right angle

Obtuse triangle

A triangle with one angle grater that 90 degrees

Acute triangle

A triangle with all angles less than 90 degrees

Scalene triangle

A triangle with no congruent sides

Isosceles triangle

A triangle with exactly two congruent sides

Equilateral triangle

A triangle with three congruent sides

Sum of a internal angle

The sum of all the angles inside a shape

Triangle=180

square=360

perimeter

The distance around a figure

Area of triangle

The space inside a triangle

QUADRILATERALS

Quadrilateral

A quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides and four angles.

trapezoid

A quadrilateral with exactly two parallel sides.

Parallelogram

A quadrilateral that has opposite sides that are parallel and congruent

Rectangle

A parallelogram with four right angles

rhombus

A rectangle with four congruent sides

Square

A rectangle with four congruent sides

Are of a Rectangle

The area of a rectangle is the length time width or how many blocks total can fit in it

Area of a square

How long the width is x the length or how many blocks can fit in there

Area of a parallelogram

The base times height

Area of a trapazoid

The area of this is the space inside the shape

Perimeter of a rectangle

To find the perimeter of a rectangle you add all of the sides together

Perimeter of a square

To find the perimeter of a square you add all of the sides together

Circles

Chord

Diameter

radius

Sector

Circumference

Area of a circle

chord

A line segment with its endpoints on a circle

Diameter

A line segment that passes through the center of a circle and has its endpoint on the circle

radius

A line segment with one endpoint at the center of a circle and the other end point on the circle

Sector

A religion enclosed by two radii and the arc joining their endpoints. ex.A

A

Circumference

The distance around a circle

Area of a circle

The space inside a circle

Other polygons

hexagons

A six sided polygon

octagon

A eight sided shape

Regular polygon

A polygon with all congruent sides and angles
