The main goal of Line 3 partners activities is to design and to

develop a service oriented platform that will be guaranteed a safety

approach using an accident risk prevention process and an

emergency intervention planning.

In our system it will be possible:

Gathering information from sensors installed inside the vehicles and

from other subsystems and transmit them to system management

components. (Prevention Macro- Functionality)

Evaluate the right risk level estimated on different information related to

driver psycho-physic condition, vehicle state and environmental situation

(Managing Macro- Functionality)

Coordinate the emergency intervention among different stakeholders

involved after a road accident, in order to evaluate the best path to

reach the accident point (Intervention Macro- Functionality)

Prevention: subsystem for alcohol abuse and drug use 1/3

Alcohol and drug use in driving: some information

All types of drugs, not only the most harmful, are fundamentally a poison for the body, but above all for the mind. “In Italy cocaine, heroin and more “light” drugs will grow, in the next 3 years, till

to reach 1 million of Italians among 15 and 54 years, due to an aggressive pushers strategy to widen the basis of the drug addicts”. (Source: Prevo Lab Lombardia Report)

Is estimated that about 1/5 of the European accidents pertaining to the road are caused from the alcohol consumption and the alcohol abuse.

Technical and functional features of the subsystem

Is embedded in the on-board system for info-telematics management (OEM), or add-on (AM) for freight delivery or public transport vehicles, to monitor drivers and their behaviour.

Monitors the physical and clinical conditions by means of contactless sensors that evaluate, without active or voluntary interventions from the driver: correct position in the driver seat;

alcohol abuse;

drug use.

Defines the follow-up of the monitoring by means of: modulated interventions on different levels, according to the importance of the

surveyed parameters,

on demand of the fleet manager (memory storage in protected areas, sending alarm signals towards the Service Centre, possible disability of the engine starting).

Estimated advantages Innovation:

verifies the ability of the driver to carry out the tasks;

usage of contactless technologies.

Competitive aspects of the developed subsystem: costs;

modularization;

configuration;

easy to install;

adaptable to different communication standards;

flexible and modular HW/SW.

Industrial sectors for applications transport fleets (for freight and/or people) and therefore the world of

industrial and commercial vehicles

drivers of railcars, ships, ferries.

Medical Emergency Monitoring subsystem

Key issues:

Monitoring by means of a wireless wearable device for the following parameters of the driver: Blood Pressure, ECG, Heart Rate, Heart Rhythm Regularity, Breathing Rate, Blood Oxygen Saturation and Body Temperature.

The measurement data coming from the wireless monitoring devices are sent via Bluetooth to the driver's cellphone, which forwards the measurements data to a Service Center.

Management: dynamic mapping of critical points in the road network 1/2

The dynamic mapping of critical points is a very useful technique of road accident analysis on areas\segments\points of road network to know the road risk level and causes of crash.

Its application is very interesting for 3 final users:

Car makers: to improve theirs product (active, passive and preventive safety), and to create infomobilityservices for safety.

Road managers: to monitor the road network, realize the road safety measurements and to inform road users of critical events during the trip.

Road users: to select the safest trip and adapt the guide behavior in order to respect the warning signal .

Intervention: the fluid dynamic approach 1/2

We will consider the combination of two types of methodologies: Fluid dynamic models

Minimum path research techniques and methods

Main activities are: Traffic model

Data capture by sensors;

Data management for the model setup;

Optimization techniques.

Intervention: the fluid dynamic approach 2/2

The mathematical model and the optimization techniques will be able to

guarantee:

A. emergency vehicles arrive as fast as possible at the accident place avoiding, if possible, congested roads;

B. emergency means get to the nearest hospital with minimal traveling times.
