•Ensure you do this, not your web company, so you own domain

•Once set up, can then think about email addresses

•Where registered domain, will have functionality to do email addresses

•Can then set up Outlook / Outlook express or Smart phone (iphone /HTC) and pull in email, rather than using webmail.

•Pop 3 email -> emails are stored locally• So can delete emails in smart phones, & will still have

on webmail or Outlook• Need to back up, as it’s stored on your PC

•Don’t need a web designer to setup website

•Perhaps need some support on design, but there are low cost options

• Wordpress.com• Moonfruit• Weebly• Get British Business Online

• Plan your content

• Think about what information customers need to make a decision

• Write content for SEO ->tension between that + brand voice

• Don’t go for a free theme -> malicious code• Can pay for premium plugins e.g. pulling domain names

• Google Analytics tracks visitors to website• Free service from Google• Cookies > need to have privacy policy covering the

usage• Look at webmaster tools -> shows you how Google’s

indexing the site

• Blogging is a great way to get people more engaged with your business

• Blog originally started as an online diary but has ground into a key tool to engage people in your business

• Blog about: launch, behind the scenes, feedback, insights, interviews with key people, commentary on trends in industry

Inbound Links•Link from another website > yours = inbound link•More relevant inbound links higher rankings•Need to be high quality links•All down to content design•Good content > people will link to it & talk about it•Don’t buy links > short cut can be costly as could get penalised

Social Signals•People recommending or talking about content / links /brands•RTs count as inbound links•Need to get more people endorsing your content•No about number of followers but quality of interactions•Sites that count:• Twitter• Facebook• Google+• Forums
