DESCRIPTION

Can short 2 day 'Leadership Development' programmes really deliver in GCC countries? The appetite for Leadership development is huge. Our view is that Leadership Development works best when integrated into the workplace and a 'Trusted Advisor' approach is used to provide ongoing support.

Is there a need for a different approach to leadership

development in the GCC?

• Leadership development programmes should reflect the culture and environment in

which leaders will ultimately work

• The approach to leadership in GCC countries is different but global companies still need

to balance their approach across their global reach.

• Although working to a high level the individual members of the top team may not have

had the opportunity to re-evaluate individual skills and priorities and take time out to

reflect on their current position and development needs

• The top team may need to re-evaluate their performance as a team and refresh their

knowledge of each others skills and experience. Re-energising trust between team

members is a key part of team working knowledge

• The top team may need to re-motivate and regain focus on the challenging goals that lie

ahead. A clear strategy is essential for leading the business towards future goals

How does the Destination Performance approach differ:

1. We believe that credible Leadership Development in GCC countries can only

exist by building solid relationships with trusted advisors so each participant

has their own advisor throughout the whole programme and beyond.

2. We believe that Leaders of dynamic businesses know what they need to

develop they just need to find time to balance their development with the

challenging goals of the business so we fully integrate development into work

3. We believe that creating self-awareness and keeping development and

reflection active within the workplace ensures slower, deeper and longer

lasting development so our programmes rely on a series of in-work

development tasks

Page 4: Fresh approach to leadership and strategy development in the GCC

Our proposed approach:

Leaders of dynamic businesses are aware of the need to evaluate and re-

evaluate their skills and knowledge and to align them with the challenging

goals of their organisation

We propose three workshop events:

•The Individual Zone

•The Team Zone

•The Strategy Zone

Each event builds on the last and between each event top team members are

set challenging and exciting tasks to retain momentum and build knowledge

and skills

Page 5: Fresh approach to leadership and strategy development in the GCC

The Individual Zone:

Using a range of world class psychometric tools and a world beating view of leadership we

will provide the top team with a thought provoking and stimulating event with clear

outcomes that will help team members to align their attributes with the attributes needed in

their role and as a leader of a dynamic, fast growing organisation. We will introduce you to:

•The Reflective Practitioner

•Transactional and Transformational leadership theories

•Emotional intelligence

•Leadership styles

During a three day event each top team member will receive individual feedback and

support with development action planning and be introduced to their trusted advisor for the

whole programme.

Following The Individual Zone we will set tasks appropriate to the individual and designed

to build on The Individual Zone and provide a stepping stone to The Team Zone

The Individual Zone

Page 6: Fresh approach to leadership and strategy development in the GCC

The Team Zone:

Making full use of the psychometric tools and theories of leadership used in The Individual

Zone we will provide a comprehensive picture of the strengths and limitations of the top

team and highlight the implications for future progression to the challenging goals of the

organisation. For some this part of the process will be a difficult time as they grapple with

the intricacies of team dynamics whilst delivering on real commercial goals. We will be

available to offer support and coaching to ensure team members successfully complete

this challenging three day workshop which will include:

•Team communication and dynamics

•Coaching and nurturing others towards success

•Impact of the ‘team health’ on organisational goals and staff motivation

•Networking and consulting inside and outside the organisation

Following The Team Zone we will set tasks appropriate to the individual and ask all team

members to evaluate their team interactions and to select a real life issue to bring into The

Strategy Zone

The Team Zone

The Strategy Zone:

Using real life issues we will help the top team to utilise some of the most effective and

innovative techniques to address these issues. We will show you how to use a range of

strategic decision making and problem solving techniques to create a clear and dynamic

vision to communicate and embed into the organisation. Our philosophy is to leave you with

the tools to take the lessons learned in these three zones and use them effectively and

successfully in leading the organisation towards clear goals. This three day workshop will

provide practical skills and facilitate a safe environment in which to practice these skills. It will

include:

•Strategic and lateral problem solving

•Creative decision making techniques

•Influencing and analysing stakeholders

•Action Learning and group coaching techniques

The Strategy Zone will conclude this series of three day workshops and enable the top team

to lead the organisation towards challenging goals with increased motivation and energy.
