Using Google (and other tools) For Research & Reputation
The basic argument [of Web 2.0] is, if you think about it: it would be better for you to have all the data and all the applications that you use on a server somewhere, and then whatever computer or device you're near you would be able to use.
Eric Schmidt, Chief Executive Office, Google
"Google has the functionality of a really complicated Swiss Army knife, but the home page is our way of approaching it closed. It's simple, it's elegant. A lot of our competitors are like a Swiss Army knife open--and that can be intimidating and occasionally harmful."
Marissa MayerVice President, Search Products & User Experience

Tool #6: RSS
RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works – such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video – in a standardized format.
An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed", or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship.
Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content quickly and automatically.
They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favoured websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place.
RSS feeds can be read using software called an "RSS reader", "feed reader", or "aggregator", which can be web-based or desktop-based.
