ETIHAD AIRWAYS REVENUE INCREASES 29 PER CENT IN Q3 2014 Etihad Airways has reported total revenues of US$1.8 billion for the third quarter of 2014, an impressive increase of 29 per cent year-on-year, achieved on the back of accelerated passenger and cargo growth during the summer. A total of 3.9 million passengers travelled with Etihad Airways between July and September this year, 30 per cent more than the three million passengers from the same period in 2013. Etihad Cargo also outperformed the global market, carrying 144,498 tonnes of freight and mail during the third quarter, a year-on-year increase of nine per cent, on only one per cent capacity growth. Organic growth was supported by codeshare and equity alliance partnerships in the third quarter of 2014, delivering an estimated 1.1 million passengers onto Etihad Airways flights (+41 per cent year-on-year) and contributing revenue of US$352 million, which represented 27 per cent of the airline’s passenger revenue. OUR BUSINESS - 2014HIGHLIGHTS (August – September 2014)

• Q2 financial results show continued improvement, driven by US carriers

• But worldwide airline share prices fell 4 per cent in September, reflecting investor concerns over weak economic data in some regions and the spread of the Ebola virus

• Jet fuel prices eased further in September as increased supply and a fragile demand outlook pushed crude oil prices down to levels not seen since mid-2012

• US passenger yields remain up on a year ago, but weakness continues in other regions

• Air travel volumes continue to expand strongly and the trend in air freight volumes remains positive, supported by improving conditions in Asia and the US, including a rebound in trade volumes

• Growth in available seats slowed further in August to an annualised rate of 3.5 per cent, below expansion in demand

• Passenger load factors rose on the back of strong expansion in volumes, but air freight load factors eroded some of the improvement in previous months with a 0.4 per cent fall in August compared to July

NEWS UPDATEAir Seychelles welcomes new aircraft

Two new DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft have joined Air Seychelles’ fleet and are being used to operate the airline’s services between Seychelles International Airport and the archipelago island destinations of Praslin, Bird, Denis and Frégate.

Air Seychelles’ first Airbus A320 aircraft, a wet lease from Etihad Airways, is also scheduled for delivery at the end of November 2014, enabling the airline to increase its weekly frequencies between Seychelles and Abu Dhabi, provide more capacity to Mauritius, and enhance its schedules to and from Johannesburg, Mauritius, and Paris.

Air Seychelles announces new routes

Air Seychelles will add three new routes to its rapidly expanding regional network in December, with three times per week flights to Mumbai, twice-weekly flights to Dar es Salaam on December 2, and twice-weekly flights to Antananarivo in Madagascar on December 3.

Expanded travel options for South AmericaEtihad Airways and Brazil’s Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes have announced a codeshare partnership agreement, offering travellers greater access to South America. Subject to regulatory approval, the agreement will see Etihad Airways place its EY code on Gol-operated flights across Brazil and South America. The agreement also includes the airlines’ frequent flyer programs - Etihad Guest and Gol’s Smiles - enabling passengers to earn and redeem miles when flying with the partner airline.

Malta codeshare enhanced

Etihad Airways and Air Malta have expanded their codeshare agreement following the launch of Etihad Airways’ service between Abu Dhabi and Rome. Air Malta will place its KM code and flight number on the new route, while Etihad Airways will place its EY code and flight number on Air Malta’s non-stop service between Rome and Malta. In addition, Air Malta’s code and flight number will be placed on Etihad Airways’ services from Abu Dhabi to Australia.

New maintenance deal Etihad Airways and codeshare partner Air New Zealand have signed a wide-ranging agreement to provide reciprocal line maintenance services in Melbourne and Los Angeles. Etihad Airways will perform all scheduled and non-scheduled line maintenance on Air New Zealand aircraft in Melbourne, while Air New Zealand will continue to perform full line maintenance for Etihad Airways in Los Angeles. The services to be performed by both airlines may include transit, daily and weekly checks, scheduled engineering services, and fault repairs for aircraft systems and passenger cabins.

Etihad Airways enhances its network with new destinationsEtihad Airways has expanded its operations in Italy with the launch of a daily non-stop service between Abu Dhabi and Rome. Etihad Airways has also commenced its new daily non-stop services between Abu Dhabi and Perth, the capital of Western Australia. New routes San Francisco to San Francisco and Dallas Etihad Airways has announced a new daily service to San Francisco starting on 18 November, and to Dallas on 3 December, expanding the airline’s US network to six destinations. Lining up with an evening flight from New Delhi into Abu Dhabi, the new San Francisco service will provide an important air bridge between New Delhi and the US, and be operated by a three-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft leased from equity partner Jet Airways.

Network expansion in 2015Etihad Airways will launch nine new routes in 2015, increasing coverage in Europe, Asia and Africa. OUR COMMUNITYEtihad Airways continues to drive economic growthAccording to the latest study by leading UK think tank, Oxford Economics, Etihad Airways and its partners continue to play a crucial role in supporting and driving economic growth in the UAE.The airline’s growth and sustained commercial success are good for Abu Dhabi. The economic contributions are classified into four key areas: direct (within Etihad Airways), indirect (suppliers to Etihad Airways), induced (spending of direct and indirect employees), and catalytic (impacts on other industries). The Etihad Airways, together with its equity partners, subsidiaries and joint-ventures, contributed a total of US$15.6 billion to Abu Dhabi’s GDP in 2013. This represents 12.8 per cent of the non-oil GDP of the Emirate. In addition, it supported 180,000 jobs in total.

Direct economic contribution:The airline contributed US$3.3 billion to Abu Dhabi’s GDP in 2013.Indirect economic contribution:Etihad Airways made an indirect economic contribution of US$1.7 billion and supported an additional 23,323 jobs in 2013 through fuel purchases, maintenance and repair, airport rental and landing fees, marketing, advertising, IT ventures and communications.

Induced economic contribution:An induced GDP contribution of US$1.6 billion and 22,296 additional jobs can be attributed to money spent during 2013 by employees of Etihad Airways and its suppliers.

Catalytic economic contribution:Etihad Airways played an important role in improving air links between Abu Dhabi and the rest of the global economy, and the airline’s expanding network was a key factor in encouraging businesses to invest in the Emirate and the UAE. These activities provided a catalytic economic contribution of nearly US$9 billion, and supported nearly 118,484 jobs in 2013.Etihad Airways was also a key contributor to the development and growth of tourism in the UAE, carrying 11.5 million passengers through its hub in Abu Dhabi.

Etihad Airways encourages staff to ‘Give Together’The sustainability agenda of Etihad Airways is framed under the TOGETHER initiative which comprises four key elements; Growing, Working Giving and Greener. The ‘Giving’ component incorporates the airline’s efforts to support the wellbeing of local and global communities, and recognises that its employees can play a major role in support of these efforts.Recognising this, Etihad Airways’ sustainability team recently launched the iVolunteer program, a wide-ranging initiative to encourage employees to engage in community-related activities and support the work of local charities across the UAE and in other parts of the world. The first group initiative to be organised under iVolunteer was the participation in a community support activity in Abu Dhabi using funds donated directly by the airline. Fifty volunteers from the program donated their spare time to shop for gifts which were distributed to 330 women living in a workers’ community. The volunteers also distributed hot meals in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Cause Connect, a UAE-based community group that is dedicated to increasing creative collaboration between causes, communities and companies. To encourage further collaboration the sustainability team held a leadership workshop for staff enrolled in the iVolunteer program, with motivational speaker Jules Lewis providing examples of her involvement in various community and corporate social responsibility activities around the world.
