DESCRIPTION
What can you do with a retired plane? We challenged students from the Université de Montréal to recycle and redesign materials from a donated CRJ100 aircraft. The goal of this challenge was to show that a retired aircraft can become a source of raw materials, reducing the need for virgin raw materials and landfill usage. Take a look at some of the amazingly creative items the 16 industrial design students created.

The way forward to reuse parts from retired aircraftby the integration of Industrial Design
The aim of this project is to prove that some parts of an old aircraft can be revalorized by redesigning them into new products.
On September 2013 sixteen students raised the challenge of designing and manufacturing products based on our old CRJ 100
parts

What are the benefits and avenues of this project?
22
Show that redesigning parts into new items drives us towards 100% aircraft recoverability
Give the opportunity to students and researchers to improve the knowledge in aircraft End-of-life
Contribute to reduce the overall aircraft environmental impact
Address a critical industry issue going forward into the future (R&D and R&T projects with strategic partners)
