ABOUT US The Coolangatta Sands Hotel, affectionately known as “The Sands” by locals, is located in the heart of Coolangatta, a hundred metres or so from the nearest surf beach. Since 1911, this beautiful old pub has undergone many transitions—the most significant being a multi-million dollar refurbishment in 2006, transforming it into a contemporary family friendly hotel, bistro and lounge bar.

The Sands is comprised of a public bar and a lounge bistro/bar. The public bar features a pool table, a large widescreen TV tuned to all the latest sporting events, and a state-of-the-art TAB facility for those who like a bit of a thrill. The lounge bistro and bar (known as the “Sands Bar”) serves up fresh and delicious meals—from tempting entrées, satisfying main courses, share plates and pizzas, to tasty fare your children won’t be able to resist—as well as free live entertainment every weekend. Free wifi is available throughout.

We also have our own bottle shop that offers a wide variety of wine, beer and spirits at great prices. Upstairs, the Coolangatta Sands Backpacker Hostel offers clean, safe, modern and affordable accommodation with a range of useful facilities.

Audio visual facilities include an in-house sound system with smart device connectivity, a wireless microphone, a projector and a screen. A courtesy bus is available for both pick-ups and drop-offs.
