ASB MAIN REPORT ECONOMIC SCOREBOARD (JUNE 2016 QUARTER)

Taranaki RatingsEmployment 59,000Retail Sales $275mHouse Prices $340,000Construction $70m

New Car Sales 959 carsRating

Taranaki is at the bottom of the score board this quarter. This is partly due to the weak oil and dairy sectors. However, there are low interest rates and an

increasing housing market as well as a strong retail sector. Recently there has been an increase in dairy prices so looking hopeful for the future.

“In 1983 hundreds of workers broke a world record by building a 3 bedroom home in just 3 hours. It was later sold to buyers who weren’t told about home’s origin. The

home was an instant nightmare: uneven slab, burst pipes,

flawed roof, mismatched paint,

buckled walls, crooked doors, faulty sewer. ”Source: http://crazyfacts.com/tag/construction/

“Thanks to the Staples Rodway Bookkeeping

service we didn’t need to spend time training staff on

our new (construction based) accounting software and have saved a heap of

money having one less permanent member of

staff. I now spend a lot less time in the office

organising payroll and no longer take my laptop

home with me.” Scott Siffleet - Lifestyle

subsequent transfer to others3. Never give out your password4. Check your accounts regularly

to ensure money is going to the right places

Page 29: Building Statistics | New Zealand | Accounting, HR and IT

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) HELP“If you are emailing somebody about financial matters

involving transferring money, check the arrangements with the person using a means of communication other

than email. We also recommend people avoid using public Wi-Fi, particularly if they have bank account

information in emails, as it isn’t secure and the chance of emails being hacked is higher”
