Corporate CultureSOME SIMPLE POINTERS ON HOW TO ENCOURAGE AND EMPOWER YOUR ORGANIZATION
There Is No “I” In Team
It is difficult to get anywhere without other people so focus on cultivating a team environment over creating competition.
The Tide Raises All Ships
Helping to raise up others raises up the entire team.
Find The “Right Nothing” – Satsung Mooji
When you listen to others, try to keep your mind clear and calm so that you can catch their entire message/concept before you respond.
“Of those who say nothing, few are silent.” – Thomas Neill
Listening more than speaking greatly increases the amount of time you spend engaged with new material.
Create Lines For Clarity, Not Separation
It is very important to clarify roles and how each job interacts with one another so that you can be aware of the cause and effect and promote a
better team attitude.
It’s All In The Intentions
Make sure that if you perceive a slight from another person that you know they had ill intentions and weren’t inadvertently doing damage.
Pain Breeds Growth
Don’t be afraid of the natural sources of conflict that exists between different kinds of jobs and/or departments within the company; just make
sure you do everything you can to avoid making it personal.
Short Circuit Bad Memories
If you have trouble communicating with a coworker or a client, make sure to document as much of it as possible. The reference material created
from this will prevent arguments over discussions that no one will remember clearly after enough time has gone by.
Would You Kiss the Face of a Strange Dog?
Do your best to identify your coworker’s communication styles so that you can change the way you approach them and avoid miscommunications.
Slow and Steady Wins the Race
When handling interpersonal conflicts, it is important to keep the communication very simple and to avoid emotional outbursts as much as possible. Excessive words allow for more interpretation of the message
and usually make people feel overwhelmed.
Walk Away With a Purpose
It is OK to take a break from a conflict. It is ideal to take a break from a conflict when the break leads to a clearer understanding or a calmer
mindset. It is not preferable to avoid conflict just because you don’t want to deal with it.
A Wise Old Man Once Said…
You are not going to understand all of your coworkers but you should respect that each of them has a unique perspective and something you
can learn.
To Be Trusted You Must Be Trustworthy
If you make a mistake and own up to it, other people will trust you more.
Recognize Your Role
The purpose of management is to oversee that the correct people are doing the correct jobs. It is your duty to ensure that you are doing the job
you are placed in. If someone else isn’t doing their job, please deliver factual information to management and trust that the issue will be
resolved.
Watch and Learn
Sometimes people resolve issues in unexpected ways. Try to save yourself time by focusing on learning from other’s solution process (which also
includes seeing whether it worked long term) instead of being disappointed that they didn’t choose your solution.
