DESCRIPTION
The goal of the SEEMPubS project is to define a methodology, easily reproducible in different European realities, to reduce CO2 emissions by realizing a smart ICT system for the monitoring and control of energy consumption in existing public buildings and spaces, even historical ones. In order to tune such a system, a parametric model has been realized and different tests are in progress to optimize the interoperable data exchange process. In parallel, other tests are in progress to make the data related to energy consumption available to the different users in real through the use of a Web Portal, QR Codes and Augmented Reality.

Objectives and expected impacts
SEEMPubS addresses energy and CO2 footprint reduction in existing public buildingsand spaces without significant constructions works, by an intelligent ICT‐basedservice‐based monitoring and management of energy consumption.
1. To develop an integrated electronic system and interoperable web‐basedsoftware solution for real‐time energy performance monitoring and control oflighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning services through wireless sensornetworks in existing buildings and open public spaces.
2. To significantly raise people’s awareness for energy efficiency in public spacesbasing on the management philosophy of the integrated facility. The system willprovide multidimensional visualization of parameters of building operations anddata sharing from energy‐consuming equipment and appliances.
3. To define standards (such as ISO) and a model for existing buildings and publicspaces in Europe starting from the most significant research results achievedthrough project.

Objectives and expected impacts
The expected project impact is in accordance with the EuropeanCommission directives:• Contribute to the opening of a market for ICT‐based customized
solutions integrating numerous products from different vendors andoffering services from design of integrated systems to the operation andmaintenance phases.
• Establish a collaboration framework between the ICT and the buildingindustry aimed at exploiting opportunities for the development of ICT‐based systems in compliance with the Energy Performance of BuildingsDirective.
• Reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, in line with the policyframework for facilitating the transition to an energy‐efficient and low‐carbon economy through ICT.

The demonstrator: the Politecnico di Torino Campus
To optimize the SEEMPubS activities, six representative Rooms (Test Rooms) wereselected within the demonstrator and for each of them a new BMS is designed basedon a specific sensor network infrastructure. Similarly, six twin Rooms (ReferenceRooms) were selected to compare all data during the research period.1
