Ashoka
Sound Bytes 3 (Bornstein)
"Social entrepreneurs identify resources
where others only see problems. They view
the villagers as the solution, not the passive
beneficiary. They begin with the assumption of
competence and unleash resources in the
communities they're serving."
— David Bornstein
Who are we?
Ashoka envisions an
Everyone A Changemaker™ world:
one that responds quickly and effectively
to social challenges, and where each
individual has the freedom, confidence and
societal support to address any social
problem and drive change.
Sound Bytes 6 (Bill 1)
“Social entrepreneurs are not content just
to give a fish, or teach how to fish. They will
not rest until they have revolutionized the
fishing industry.”
— Bill Drayton

economic participation.

WORKING TOWARD ORIGINAL VISION
Albina Ruiz was elected to the Fellowship
in 1995. Today she continues to work with
her idea thanks to Ashoka's support.
“Before receiving Ashoka’s support, we reached approximately
140,000 inhabitants annually; this year we are approaching 4
million. For me Ashoka’s help is endless and the Social
Entrepreneur badge is a symbol of innovation, creativity, ethical
fiber, social impact, that the world recognizes.”
— Ashoka Fellow Albina Ruiz (Peru)
