About VON Automobile Nig. Ltd

VON is an Independent Body Assembler on different kinds of chassis.

CKD / SKD Assembly of Chassis as well as buses

CKD / SKD Assembly of Light/Heavy duty Trucks

Have Professionally Trained / Highly Experienced Engineers in their respective fields.

VON is aiming to manufacture Made in Nigeria buses in near future with their own styling of body for the benefit of the customers.

Providing local Employment for 400 to 500 persons directly and create indirect employment to the tune of about 1800 to 2000.

The plant is situated in a total land area of about 400 Acres.

The plant has a production capacity of 1000 Buses, 1500 Light Duty Trucks and 2500 Pick Ups per annum.

The City Bus, Pick-Up and Light Duty Truck will be assembled at this plant and new deliveries of the same will commence from Nov; 2011.

This will ensure Made in Nigeria products are available to local customers with assured backup support.

In an interview, the Director of Operations, NURTW (First BRT) Cooperative, operator of the mile 12-CMS BRT System, talks about the experience of managing the first ever BRT System in Africa, the challenges and expectations for the third year of operation. In this, he confirmed the preference, effectiveness, efficiency and economic wise of going for Ashok Leyland Falcon (City) Buses again. He said, “In our fleet we have two brands-Ashok Leyland and another brand . It is very glaring that Ashok Leyland has an edge over the other brand in terms of fuel consumption. Don’t forget that fuel economy is a key factor in transport management. In terms of cost of procurement, the Ashok Leyland brand is cost effective as you can quickly pay off its cost in just about two years which is nearly impossible with the other brand.

Again, when you look at urban intense mass transit like the one we do, the other brand cannot withstand stopping from one bus stop to the other. It is better for inter city operations. With Ashok Leyland brand you can be sure of good delivery; in fact the local terrain was taken into consideration before bringing them in for the operation. Presently 540 units of Ashok Leyland Falcon (City) buses are already in operation under BRT in Lagos State for the past 3.5 years.”(An Extract from LAMATA Publications)
