DESCRIPTION
Whenever you use the boat in the saltwater a small amount of salt builds up on the water galleries. Over time the salt gets accumulated and its presence is increased. Flushing the motor helps to remove the salt deposits, but you cannot remove the embedded salt completely. The only way to resolve this issue is to replace the powerhead gaskets. Thus you can accomplish the goal of removing the salt deposits completely. For more details visit, https://technologynewsupdate.tumblr.com/post/626959925552332800/replacing-outboard-powerhead-gaskets

Replacing Outboard Powerhead Gaskets
When a shop carries the gasket job,
it involves removing the powerhead
or the motor part of the outboard.
After removing the particular part, the
professional will clean the surface of
the base gasket area.
The ideal time to replace the bottom of
the crankshaft seals is when the
powerhead is in the OFF state.
Depending on the manufacturer of
the outboard, parts like exhaust or
side plates are removed, the water
galleries are cleaned, inspected, and
the new gaskets are fitted.
The heads of the powerhead will also
be removed and then the cylinder
block, headwater galleries will be
cleaned effectively.
The water deflectors in the water
galleries and other parts
associated are inspected
thoroughly. And if it has
some problems then it will be
replaced.
Almost all the gasket jobs require the
use of air or battery drill to remove
the salt build up in the water
galleries.
If it is not checked periodically, in
the worst-case scenario the salt
build-up blows the side of the block
out due to the pressure of the salt
building up in it.
Such motors cannot be fixed and the
customers have to buy the new
engine. So it is vital to service the
engine at regular intervals.
It is a skillful job and done mostly
during the wintertime. It is helpful
for the shops because they are
quiet.
It helps the shops by giving them
work because they will be busy
during the summer and you cannot
get your job done so quickly.
At times certain shops run winter
specials involving some big
tasks like gaskets; this will help
you to save a lot of money if
you can accomplish the job
during the winter.
If you are not sure about the gaskets
in the outboard powerhead contact
the dealer when they recommend
doing gaskets.
