School• A common setting for Rom coms are schools. As it shows the audience

that is a rom com, and it is a believable setting.

As you can see 10 things I hate about you is set in a school. And the narrative hook is that it is 2 very different people from different clics, who end up together.

School• Another example of a Rom Com set in a

school is Juno. And again 2 very unexpected people end up being together.

This film also goes into more detail, with what can happen when something goes wrong in a relationship when you are young…

Also from a film poster you can get an idea, of what is going to happen in the movie. This is a good example of that. As from seeing this film poster, the audience will already start to preform an opinion towards the girl because she is pregnant.

Workplace• Some rom coms are set in a workplace, and it

is usually 2 people from different scales of the ladder who end up together.

For example Bridget Jones’s Diary is set in the workplace. However this rom com has a twist because she first starts to fancy her boss, but then this changes once she goes out on a date with him… This is also a narrative technique used in rom coms as the person the girl falls for, doesn’t turn out to be who she thought they were.

This is usually shown in the film poster, as you can see.
