Chosen pathway…Fine ArtI have decided to follow with the fine art path route. The reason is

because I am most interested in fine art, as it gives you the opportunity to express your ideas visually.

The brief I have chosen for this project is to produce a painting for one of Kilve’s local art galleries (Churchgate gallery, Minehead) which

features aspects of some of Kilve’s attraction sites.

Whilst at Kilve, I have learnt many new techniques such as experimenting with found materials and also how to incorporate

the nature within the sculpture. I also have learnt to be more expressive with my studies rather than being precise.

Kilve

For my A2 piece, I painted a

watercolour piece of a close up view

of some boulders at the beach. I chose this composition

because it portrays boulders from

different angles.

Detailed close-up painting

Painting or printing close-ups of landscapes is the main focus

for this idea. To create a composition, I will be exploring

the use of colours within nature, and using different materials or techniques to

create a wide range of textures of objects within landscapes. I

will also need to explore structure and patterns that can

be seen in landscapes.

Aerial perspective

painting

The main focus for this idea is to create a painting using aerial perspective techniques. Such techniques involve

exploring the space used to see how objects are portrayed in the distance. I also would like to explore how the use of

colour helps create a sense of layered grounds. For example, softer colours helps to create the objects in the background

to fade away within the composition.

The artist that has inspired me for this idea is William Turner and I would like to use watercolour for this idea and outline using pen or ink.

Create a model & produce a

painting of that model

I will be focusing on creating a model which represents the features of landscape. Once I have completed making the model, I will then produce

a painting from the model. To create a model and painting, I will be exploring the techniques in both of the previous ideas. Such techniques include exploring the space and structure formed in landscapes and also

to experiment with the use of colour by possibly changing the colour palette and increasing the hue and vibrancy of the landscape.

Conclusion

I have decided to follow through with the first idea, as I feel that within the time given to complete this project, I will not be able to complete the other ideas to a satisfactory

standard. I also prefer the first idea because I want to continue to focus on creating a detailed close up painting,

as I have with my A2 piece. I also feel that the first idea will be most suitable for my client as it will be in a local gallery

in Kilve.
