Chhattisgarh has a significant role

in the field of Sanskritik.

Chhattisgarhi was known as

“Khaltahi” to the nearby hill-people

and as “Laria” to Sambalpuri and

Oriya speakers.

Chhattisgarh is a storage house of

literature, performing crafts and arts

– all of which derives its sustenance

and substance from the day-to-day

life experiences of its folks.

Traditional crafts comprises

painting, bell metal craft,

woodcarving, tribal jewellery and

bamboo ware.

It has a rich literary heritage with roots

which lie deep in the historical and

sociological movements of the region.

Chhattisgarh has several indigenous

dance styles such as Panthi,

Chaitra, Raut Nacha Pandwani,

Kaksar, Saila and Soowa.

It is known for “lost wax art” and “Kosa

silk”.

The tribal people of Chhattisgarh use

prints to make it beautiful and give it a

glossy touch.

The natural dye extracted from the

forest is utilised for the making the

cotton fabrics.

The languages of Chhattisgarh

represent the culture of Chhattisgarh

in a beautiful aspect.

A number of local dialects are

present in the different regions

of Chhattisgarh.
