We are here

Where did our ancestors come from?

And these are just SOME of the countries!

Ireland

Italy

Poland

Portugal

Cape Verde

SouthKorea

CanadaGermany

What can we find out about

those countries ?

Canada

My ancestor’s came from Canada which is in North America.

The capital of Canada is Ottawa. The official languages spoken here are English and

French. Canada has moose that grow up to 6 ½ feet tall. If I visited Canada we would go to the area of

Jasper National Park which has rocky mountains and is home to many kinds of wildlife.

South Korea

My ancestor’s came from South Korea which is in Asia.

The capital of South Korea is Seoul. The official language spoken here is Korean. South Korea has statues of Buddha in their

temples. Buddha lived about 2,500 years ago.

If I visited South Korea I would see the teenage gymnasts competition.

Cape Verde

My ancestor’s came from Cape Verde. The capital of Cape Verde is Cidad de

Praia. The official language spoken here is

Portuguese. Cape Verde was made by volcanoes. If I visited Cape Verde I would catch a big

sand sharks.

Portugal

My ancestor’s came from Portugal which is in Europe.

The capital of Portugal is Lisbon. The official language spoken here is

Portuguese. Portugal has bull fighters called Cavaleiros. If I visited Portugal I would make bottle

stoppers from Portuguese cork.

Italy

My ancestor’s came from Italy, which is in Europe.

The capital of Italy is Rome. The official language spoken here is Italian. Italy has a volcano it’s name is Mount Etna

and it is still active. If I visited Italy I would try Marco Polo’s

Chinese recipe for ice cream he found in the thirteenth century.

Poland

My ancestor’s came from Poland, which is in Europe.

The capital of Poland is Warsaw. The official language spoken here is Polish. Poland is a Catholic country and Pope John II is

Polish. If I visited Poland I would see the bison. The

Europeans almost hunted bison to extinction, but in 1921 the Polish government set-up a national park for bison.

Ireland

My ancestor’s came from Ireland which is in Europe.

The capital of Ireland is Dublin. The official languages spoken here are Irish

and English. Ireland has many prehistoric sites. Like

Newgrange that is more than 4,000 years old. If I visited Ireland I would visit the

underground caves in Burren.

Germany

My ancestor’s came from Germany which is in Europe.

The capital of Germany is Berlin. The official language spoken here is German. Germany has a 19th century fairytale castle that Walt

Disney used as Sleeping Beauty’s castle. If I visited Germany I would visit Brandenburg Gate

which is one of Berlin’s most famous sights.
