Church St.Euphemia

• Euphemia was born in Chalcedon near Constantinople in a prominent patrician family. In his youth received a Christian education, and in her town characterized with the virtues and beauty.

• During the reign of Emperor Diocletian, who persecuted Christians, was charged because he refused to offer sacrifice to one city idol, and was closed with forty-nine other Christians.

• First was tortured in various ways, then thrown into the amphitheater. Lions have killed her, but her body they are not eating, to the consternation of the pagans in the audience.
