Yet another e-commerce integration

What is ? "... a complete multichannel commerce software solution that integrates product content, commerce operations, and the extended channel to help retailers, manufacturers, and other businesses create a unified and seamless cross-channel experience for their customers - from online, to in-store, to mobile and beyond"

(not talking about Magnolia assuming you already know what Magnolia is, right?)

So, talking 'bout ecommerce SOFTWARE

... "a platform that enables online sales for B2B and B2C commerce. An e-commerce platform not only facilitates a transaction over the Web, but also supports the creation and continuing development of an online relationship.” (Gartner)

e-commerce is

morethan just selling products and services online

Sure, you not only need the ENGINE...a complete tool for managingyour catalogue and selling stuff

... but also the WINDOW-SHOPuser-friendly tools that allow you to easily deliver and optimize personalized shopping experiences and communicate with your customers across all channels.

Hybris also ships a CMS Module and well, you may think to build your e-commerce module on Magnolia...

So, why choosing to integrate

Magnolia over Hybris CMS?

just easier(yeah, you already know Magnolia is easy to use, right?)

A different CMS for

ecommerce websites only?

MORE features, RICHER ecosystem Not an addon, but a full-fledged CMS

FASTER implementation Developing Magnolia components vs Hybris components

Drawbacks?

Sure, you need bolts

OK, but... integrated?

how?

Not two systemstalking each other

DEEPLY integratedalways been a great plus for Magnolia... and Hybris perfectly fits

Back to reality,Tech pillssorry, just pills... won't be boring

Inside Hybrisbased on a jee open source stackruns on a customized version of tomcat

with custom hierarchical classloaders (ugh)

modules are spring based(and a custom scope... not so easy to @Template)

CMS features added through a jee filter and custom tags (remind anything?)

So what?a CMS is mandatory... but why a different one?

Challenging deadlineno time to play(live in january 2012)

Hybris? Magnolia? Integrate Magnolia INTO Hybris? Or Hybris INTO Magnolia? Isn't that hard? We may run in troubles. Should we consider keeping two systems separated? Integrate using remote services? Renounce to easy to use? What if it doesn't work? It may take a lot of time. It can't work. The server can't handle both. Let's plan some test. Let's do a POC. What about authentication? What if anything goes wrong? It can't fit in the current plan. We have deadline we can't miss. We are not sure if...
