• Hosted by Campus IT• Question of

Ownership/Responsibility

• Historic RefUSA Business Dataset• Housed in O-Drive• Challenging On-Boarding Process

I ain’t afraid of no host-ed file formats.

But I do ask a lot of questions.

Why We Collect New Formats

• User-Centered Learning• Rise of Interdisciplinary Research• Changing Nature of Scholarly Communications• Diversity in Collections• Meeting Faculty Needs• Avoid Copyright Issues• Easy to Embed in CMS• Accessibility

Review Holdings

Questions to Consider:1) Does the subject collection offer a diversity of format options? 2) How many streaming/hosting platforms do we want to integrate?3) What are cost-efficient ways for us to add collection items to fill

format gaps?

Engage Selectors and Stakeholders

• Use SAGs to hone in on where new format content would be appreciated

• Use questions to ascertain when it is better to buy a resource, and when it is better to buy a tool/software

• Review discoverability. Talk with Discovery and Web Services to see how new formats are emerged by users

• Start format-based inventory list
