A NEW DAY

Today is the memorial of the greatest new day our universe has ever experienced

THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS• The resurrection of Jesus The Son of God has

changed the future & expectation of the human race

WE ARE CELEBRATING THE REALITY• Jesus Christ does not have any remains in the

ground• The tomb of Jesus The Son of God is totally

empty• He has risen• He is not on earth

TRUE FREEDOM COMES• With his resurrection has come TRUE FREEDOM• Freedom is not a word of God term• But his resurrection means that we are free from

the law of sin & death• Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ

Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

THIS RESURRECTION DELIVERS US• But what his resurrection has really done is to

deliver us• Hebrews 2:15 And deliver them who through

fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

The human race is in bondage• We all have the “fear of death”• This Morning Star has freed us from our fears• 2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of

prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

So many fears

Held OR hold us in bondage

Fear of death• Hebrews 2:15 And deliver them who through

fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Fear of man• Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a

snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Fear God• Acts 13:16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning

with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

Fear of destroying our relationships• Psalms 90:11 Who knoweth the power of

thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

Fear holds people captive• Fear is used to keep people captive• We are free—we are not held captive

Are You Held Captive?• When people are held in fear they are held

captive• Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the

spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Are you prone to fears?• Hebrews 2:15 And deliver them who through

fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Days of Fear• Today more than any other time we are prone to “fears”• The cold war held us all captive• When the “wall of Berlin came down another type of

fear filled the media• Terrorism—so many of our rights have been lost under

the fear of the treat of terrorism• The media & the governments have used this

New fears hold us• Ecological disasters—global warming—there are huge

arguments for saying that what we are seeing is just normal climate swings

• I remember before I was married up where we lived there was a cyclone that wiped out a little town near Billynudgle.

• The road and many houses were all swept into the sea—gone overnight—there was no talk of global warming

The Fear of Being Watched• There is a British philosopher called Jeremy

Bentham• His body is stuffed & sits at University College

London

He puts forward the socking theory• that an observer could watch prisoners without

the prisoners knowing for certain they are under observation.

• I.e. the fear of being watched or rather not being certain that you are not watched would mean that only a few prison staff are needed.

• It was accomplished by the design of the building

Cameras Do This Job Now• With the technology today with the use of

cameras etc a few can watch the many.• People will put up with the loss of rights &

freedoms if they are frightened enough

Nameless Fears• We all are led to take on nameless fears• Our children are taught to fear even the kind

smile of a stranger• Fear strangles faith & love• BUT this day reminds us that we have been

released from our fears

The unrighteous have fears• Psalms 14:5 There were they in great fear: for

God is in the generation of the righteous.

We the saved are freed from fears• Hebrews 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The

Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Here is what we must do• Hebrews 13:5–6 Let your conversation be

without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

The Day Star rising up• –the bright & morning star will free us from all our

fears• Jeremiah 30:10 Therefore fear thou not, O my servant

Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid.

Will we have fears that will cripple us?

• YES• 2 Corinthians 7:5–6 For, when we were come

into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. 6 Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

The Lord Sends People to Comfort• Just recently I was in the heat of battle from all sides

when I got a phone call from a teenage who had had bitterness & un-forgiveness in his heart because he blamed me for something—he rang & said he was sorry that night he had forgiven me because it was not my fault

• I can tell you that his confession of fault greatly blessed me

There is NO fear in love• 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but

perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

No fear should hold us or mould us• save the healthy “fear of the Lord”• 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the

spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Do not be motivated by fear• –this day today is the remembrance of

freedom from our fears• Psalms 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard

me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Victory is promised to us• so that we will not be under bondage to fears• Deuteronomy 11:25 There shall no man be

able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.

Fear Them Not• Joshua 10:8 And the LORD said unto Joshua,

Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

Fear Not• 2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in

this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

Today we celebrate his life• –we celebrate our own emancipation from

fear• Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies,

we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Take in this Romans 8:32–39• He that spared not his own Son, but delivered

him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

• 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.

Take in this Romans 8:32–39• 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that

died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

• 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Take in this Romans 8:32–39• 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all

the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

• 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Take in this Romans 8:32–39• 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor

life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

• 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

He is risen—we are free from fears!• Psalms 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard

me, and delivered me from all my fears.

To overcome fear• Examine these simple, but seldom seen, Bible

study secrets of the translators and martyrs.• To define Bible words, they did not

recommend Greek tools, but turned instead to God’s school, using the Bible’s own word twins.

Join the Great Cloud of Witnesses• The translators join a chorus of martyrs to

warn against what “man’s wisdom teacheth” and to recommend instead what “the Holy Ghost teacheth” to those who have received Jesus Christ as their Saviour and :

Follow These Seven Keys

1 Fear of the LORD• Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the

beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

• Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

2 Humility• 1 Peter 5:6–9 Humble yourselves therefore under the

mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

3 Believing the Holy Bible• John 2:22 When therefore he was risen from

the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

4 Praying• Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in

every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

5 Desiring to obey• John 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall

know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

6 Meditating on holy scriptures• Psalms 119:148 Mine eyes prevent the night

watches, that I might meditate in thy word.

7 Reading the Holy Bible again, and again.

• Deuteronomy 17:19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:
