Ideally, allemployees shouldhave adequate self-control and shouldbe self-directed intheir pursuit oforganizationalgoals.

DISCIPLINE:

The word “discipline” is derived from the Latin word “disciplina”, which means teaching, learning and growing.

Discipline is the process of training a worker sothat he can develop self-control and can becomemore effective in his work.

SELF DISCIPLINE:

Self discipline is best defined as the ability to regulate ones conduct by principle and sound judgment, rather than by impulse, desire, or social custom.

Self discipline can be considered a type of selective training, creating new habits of thought, action, and speech toward improving yourselfand reaching goals.

OBJECTIVES OF DISCIPLINE:

To impart an element of certainty despite several differences in informal behaviors pattern and other related changes in an organization.

To develop among the employees a spirit of tolerance and a desire to make adjustments.

Principles for maintenance of discipline:

The most important principles to be observed in the maintenance of discipline are:

All the rules should be framed in co-operation and collaboration with the representatives of employees.

All the rules should be appraised at frequent and regular interval to ensure that they are, and continue to be, appropriate, sensible and useful.

Cont.. Rules should vary with changes in the working

conditions of employees.

Rules should be uniformly enforced if they are to be effective.

Penalties for any violation of any rules should be clearly stated in advance.

A disciplinary policy should have as its objectives the prevention of any infringement rather than the simple administration of penalties; however it should be preventive rather than punitive.

If you take the first letters of each word you get the acronym “A WHIP”- since many people associate self discipline with whipping themselves into shape.

Acceptance means that

you perceive reality accurately and consciously acknowledge what you perceive.

WILLPOWER:is your ability to set a course of action and say, “Engage!”

is a concentration of force. You gather up all your energy and make a massive thrust forward.

HARD WORK habitually working diligently

and for long hours.

is that which challenges you.

attentive and persistent in doing something

the willingness to do what is difficult is like having a key to a special private treasure room.

INDUSTRY: is working hard.

simply means putting in the time

PERSISTENCE:is the ability to maintain

action regardless of your feelings

To be self discipline:•Get yourself organized.

•Don’t constantly seek tobe entertained.

•Be on time.

•Do the most difficulttask first.

•Finish what you start.

Self-discipline is far more importantthan passion, especially in business.In fact, if you develop the quality ofself-discipline to a high degree, itwill put passion to shame.

Self-discipline allows you take actionand therefore get results no matterwhat your emotional state. R-realistic :•Strive for attainable goods, considering the resources and constraints relative to the situation.

•Allow reasonable time to compete each goal.

Goals direct and guide behavior.

Provide clarity, challenges and standards.
