Role of woman in Georgian society

About 20 per cent of the Georgian population has migrated in search of work over the last decade. Migration causes gender and age imbalances and a loss of many of the country’s most active citizens.

• 1998 year Georgia started implementation of the action plan and international commitments regarding general equality

• Established a commission for working out the development policy for women

• Establishment of the advisory council for gender equality at the parliament of Georgia

• In 2006 there was adopted law on gender equality in Georgia
