STAGES

• Classroom interaction• Observation during demonstration• Simple exercises with in-house clients

This session will cover two aspects :

• Organising• Supervising

Organising refers to mainly the logistics

OBJECT

Negotiation exercises are helpful to teach the art of negotiation to opposing group of students. They are able to differentiate the ADR from trial court litigation process.

Supervising part involves the students in the driving seat while the faculty’s role is of a monitor.

1. The faculty has to oversee. 2. Provide inputs where needed. 3. Highlight good points and flaws.

MECHANICS

The participants are given realistic case files and asked to resolve them in as economic and fair manner as possible.

Experiential learning integrates theory and practice by combining academic inquiry with real life experiences.

Inside classrooms approach may involve use of :

• Newspapers• Videos• Actual legal documents• Guest speakers

IN-HOUSE CLIENTS

refers to

the use of clients who are available nearby and easily for clinical training.

Obviously, these would be primarily used for simple and easy matters warranting legal resolution.

Type of cases

• Simple tenancy disputes• Dishonour of cheque cases• Grievances of consumers• Traffic violations• Child custody and visitation rights

Outside classrooms situations could be inference to :

• Courts• Agencies• Law Offices
