What is sweating?

Sweating (or perspiration) is the production of a fluid, consisting primarily of water as well as various dissolved solids (chiefly chlorides), that is excreted by the sweat glands in the skin of mammals.

Why do we sweat?

Sweating is an important bodily function that allows us to control our body temperature and keep it within the normal range.

When do we sweat?

We all sweat as a normal response to different forms of stress e.g. heat, exercise or emotional stress

What is hyperhidrosis? Hyperhidrosis is the excessive

sweating produced by the body that is non-physiological and disproportionate to that required for regulation of body heat.

Types of hyperhidrosis?

Generalized: all over the body

Localized: particular areas e.g. palms, armpit, soles, face etc.
