Acid rain is a rainfall that has a PTL level of less than 5.6.

It is formed when oxides of nitrogen and sulfite combine with moisture in the atmosphere to make nitric and sulphuric acids.

The two primary sources of acid rain are sulphur dioxide and oxides of nitrogen.

Acidic depositions occurs in these ways –

1) Wet2) Dry

Wet depositions are any form of precipitation that removes acid from the atmosphere and deposits them on earth’s surface.

Dry deposition polluting particles and gases stick to the ground via dust and smoke in the absence of precipitation.

1) Acid rain pollutes the water body by increasing their ph level.

2) Acid rain affects forests by damaging flora and fauna.

3) It has an impact on architecture and art because of its ability to corrode certain material.

4) It disrupts soil nutrients, kills micro-organisms in the soil and sometimes causes calcium deficiency.

5) It also causes respiratory problems. The so2 and no2 emission gives risk to respiratory problems such as dry coughs , asthma , and throat infections.
