Modeling Lessons with “ELMO”

The Document Cameraby Vernetta Christian

Students learn through MODELS The attached lesson was planned to use

the ELMO as a means of guiding my students through their learning tasks, not by simply telling them what to do, but showing them how it should be done.

DESCRIPTION - Students will complete grammar items on indicator 3.1.4 from the H.S.A Public Release 2008 Test.

1. Each student will have a hard-copy. 2. Teacher will project the online item from the

www.mdk12.org website on LCD 3. Teacher models process of elimination and

test-taking strategy to complete two SRs on DOCUMENT CAMERA.

4. Students will discuss what seemed to be the important factors in the teacher model and complete more SRs in pairs…then share their thought-process on the Document Camera just as the teacher modeled.

TEACHER USING ELMO

STUDENTS USING ELMO

ELMO IS AWESOME Reflection: Using the ELMO is incredibly

beneficial to both the instruction and student learning activities in the classroom. The students enjoy the ability to share answers, thoughts, ideas, and drawings. I am able to model and guide them better, since I have the ability to not only instruct them on what to do, but MODEL how it should be done! To quote one of my students: “Mrs. Christian, I like it when you do this modeling thing, it helps me understand (much) better!”

THANK GOODNESS FOR

MY ELMO!
