Team Heart aims to address and prevent Rheumatic Heart Disease in Rwanda. My role has been to help capture the emotional story of this organization, to support their fundraising efforts. This presentation provides an overview of the organization and the vision for helping them to reach their fundraising goals.

We’ve all had Strep Throat.

No big deal, right?

Untreated strep turns into Rheumatic Heart Disease

For advanced cases, heart surgery becomes the only solution

In Rwanda and the developing world, this is a huge problem

In Rwanda:• 30% of Hospitalizations in

Rwanda are heart related

• 20,000 people are estimated to need heart surgery due to Rheumatic disease

• 4 Cardiologists in Rwanda for 10 million people

Team Heart’s mission is to address and prevent Rhuematic Heart Disease

The Organization:

• Affiliated with Brigham & Women’s Teaching Hospital, and Harvard Medical School

• Travels to King Faisal Hospital annually to operate on 16 patients and teach medicine

• Now in it’s 6th year - with a 10 year commitment

• Doctors and Nurses volunteer their vacation time and pay their own way
