The Power of Personal Web"...a growing set of free and simple tools and applications, it is easy to create customized, personal web-based environments — a personal web — that explicitly supports one’s social, professional, learning and other activities via highly personalized windows to the networked world. Online material can be saved, tagged, categorized, and repurposed without difficulty and without any special knowledge of how web pages are put together... tools to use, and any task — from creating and distributing content, to organizing one’s personal and professional time, to developing a library of resources that constantly refresh and update themselves..

NACADA's Technology in Advising Commission

• "The purpose of NACADA's Technology in Advising Commission is to help academic advisors and advising administrators to understand the impact that technologies such as the Web, e-mail, degree audits, online registration, and student information systems have on academic advising; use technology effectively in their work; and, appreciate the appropriate uses of technology in higher education. This commission seeks to serve as a central resource and clearinghouse for information about innovations and issues in academic advising technology. Through our commission Web site and electronic discussion forum (TECADV-L), as well as national and regional conferences, we actively seek to encourage NACADA members to engage in topical discussions and activities related to the uses of technology in advising.”

NACADA's Technology Seminars

• Provides an opportunity for academic advisors to get hands-on experience with advising-related technologies. This exciting, interactive, and cost effective seminar is an opportunity for advisors to gain knowledge and skills they can use in developing strategies for enhancing their work with advisees and academic advising programs. Each participant has the opportunity to plan for the use of new technologies in their work, and get feedback on their plans.o http://nacada.ksu.edu/Events/Seminars/Technology/index.htmo http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/winterseminar/2009/index.htmo http://nacadatech.net/
