Visit Skype.com on your computer.

If your browser supports Skype, you can create an account in your browser.

You can also download Skype for Desktop on Windows, Mac or Linux (preferred method).

If you choose to download Skype for Desktop, click and download the application to your computer.

Follow the prompts for installing the application.

If you have a Skype account, skip to page 9.

If you receive this message, your browser does not support Skype and you have to use Skype for Desktop.

Skype for Desktop is the preferred method for making calls.

On Skype for Desktop, you will see this screen when you open the program.

Click on “Sign in or create”

If you are using your browser, you will automatically be on the next step.

If you do not already have a Skype account, click “Create one!”.

We will be using the Skype for Desktop images, if you are using your browser, the steps are the same.

On this screen, you will create your account using either your cell phone number or email address.

If you prefer, you can use your email address by clicking on the blue “use your email instead”.

Next, you will need to create a password that will be used only by you during sign in.

Here you will insert your name as you would like it to read on your Skype account.

This name is what your caller will use to search for your account.

Here you can enter your additional information including your birthday.

Click “Next”.

The next screen will request you to verify that your phone or email is correct (via email or text message). You will receive an email with the code that should be entered on this screen.

Click “Next”.

You will also be asked to enter the characters you see on the screen to ensure you are a human.

If you make a mistake, you can try again.

Enter the characters and click “Next”.

You can upload a photo if you would like. If not, choose Skip.

Skype would like to test your microphone and speakers. Speak clearly to see if your microphone works. You should also test the audio to ensure call quality.

Once you are finished, click “Continue”.

Next, you will need to test the camera. You should see yourself in the screen.

Once done, click “Continue”.

Skype can help you find contacts so that you can skype with family and friends.

Click “Ok” once you have read the message.

Once complete, your account will open and you will be taken to the home screen.

You can click on the initials icon at the top of this screen to get to your settings.

Ensure your name and either phone number and/or email address is correct.

You will need to provide either your name as it is spelled in this profile, your phone number that is set to your profile, OR your email address that is set to your profile for your physician to contact you.
