Precast Prestressed Hollowcore Slabs Seminar - Armtec

Preview:

DESCRIPTION

Hollowcore has been around for over 40 years. Learn the basics of Hollowcore as well as some new ideas adapting to environmental needs (LEED) and energy efficiency from this tutorial. Hollowcore attributes include versatility, creation of long spans and open spaces, fast track construction, control of flexural cracking, zero tension possible in bottom flange, minimal site labour, and low long-term maintenance costs or, in short, VOS-C.

What is Hollowcore (HC) ?

Precast Prestressed Hollowcore slabs

• Primary use is floor and roof slabs• Continuous voids are used to reduce weight and improve

structural performance

19

Available Hollowcore (HC) depths

• 8 inch (203mm) slabs span 30 feet (9m) for 100 PSF (4.8KN/m2)

• 12 inch (305mm) slabs span 40 feet (12m) for 100 PSF (4.8KN/m2)

• 14 inch (356mm) slabs span 45 feet (13.7m) for 100 PSF (4.8KN/m2)

• 10 inch (254mm)…subject to machine availability.

20

Benefits of Hollowcore

1. Longer clear spans…versatility of space.

2. Fast track construction…$’s to owners

3. Design for control of deflection.

4. Design to limit tensile stress in bottom flange…corrosive environments

5. Immediate working platform on site.

6. Manages field skilled trade shortages.

7. Not impacted by high floor to floor heights.
