Legislative Branch

•Made up of the Senate and House of Representatives

Senate •100 Senate Seats•Serve for 6 years•Requirements: at least 30 years old,

U.S. citizen for 9 years, resident of State he/she wants to represent

•Two representative from each state.

House of Representatives

•423 House of Representative seats•Serve for 2 years•Requirements: at least 25 years

old and U.S. citizen for 7 years •Each state has different number of

representatives.

What are the requirements to be in

the senate?

•Must be at least 30 years old, U.S. citizen for at least 9 years, and be a resident of the state in which representing.

Executive Branch

•President is the head of Executive branch

•Service for 4 year, which is 1 term and can serve up to 2 terms

•Requirements: at least 35 years old, natural born U.S. citizen, at least 14 years of U.S. residence.

Executive Branch •Second in Command •Vice President works along side the

President. •President of the Senate •Same Requirements as the President•Can take Presidents place if

something happens

•President picks the Vice President •Responsibility: make sure that

government runs smoothly and that laws are enforced.

Judicial Branch •Made up of Supreme Court •Total of 9 Judges that made up of

Supreme Court •President appoints the Judges and Senate

votes them into the Supreme Court •Serve for life •They explain and interpret the

Checks and Balance System

•Definition: Is a system to check the three branches of government, so no brach has more power than the other.

•Like President can veto laws Congress passes, Congress can over ride veto with 2/3 of both houses, and Supreme Court can declare laws unconstitutional.
