INTRODUCTIONPlay can provide a release from stress and tension for individual of all ages . Play is essential for sick child as well as healthy child one. The sick child needs play to fill lonely hours and expressing felling and aggression through it ,to reduced the trauma for hospitalization. In play activities involves the play therapy’ and ‘recreational therapy.’

PRINCIPLES OF PLAY THERAPY

To develop warm, friendly relationship with child.

Accept the child exactly as he is. Establish a feeling of permissiveness. Recognize the feeling of the child

Do not attempt to hurry during a therapy

Do not interrupt the child’s action or conversation

Provide opportunity to solve his own problem

To establish only those limitations that are necessary.

Organize play facilities for the sick children.

Age appropriate play things should be arranged.

Involve all the health team members for play in the hospital.

Observe and record the child’s behavior during play therapy.

Encourage all children to participate in play therapy.

Protect children from aggressiveness during play and guide them to less destructive type of play.

Help the child to express the feelings.Teach the parents and other family

members about the importance of of play.
