Oxfam La Trobe University Student Group

Oxfam La Trobe Student Group is student group with three key practical purposes: 1.     To act as a bridge between the LTU student community and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).

2.     To help students become involved in volunteering, internships and other vocational pathways within these sectors.

3.     To coordinate with the Oxfam Australia Office in order to contribute to Oxfam Campaigns. In 2013 some campaigns include:·        GROW·        CLOSE THE GAP·        THE MOVEMENT TO END POVERTY·        FAIR TRADE FORTNIGHT

Babies born to Aboriginal mothers die at more than twice the rate of other Australian babies, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experience higher rates of preventable illness such as heart disease, kidney disease and diabetes.It’s a health crisis you’d associate with an impoverished nation, but it’s happening right here in our own backyard. Together we are changing this picture.
